Chapter 5
~Mouse

-small, nocturnal mammals
-2-4" long
-long, thin tails, large ears
-30 known species
-Found most places in world, very adaptive
-eat almost anything, prefer grain and plants
-excellent jumpers, swimmers, climbers, and fast runners
-Curious, some intelligence
-run if spooked
-be slow when approaching/casting
-mind will be on high guard otherwise
-we're dealing with mundane mice, though there are magical species

~Snuffbox

-small, pocket-sized, ornamental box
-originally used to hold snuff
-modernly used by witches to hold cosmetics
-made of many materials, including silver, copper, brass, wood, and even tortoise shell
-many had intricate designs and even were inlaid with jewels
-try to come up with your own design
-try to be detailed

~The Transformation

-slightly easier in terms of willpower
-Block:
Spell: Mouse to Snuffbox
Incantation: Venusto (veh-NOO-stow)
Wand Movement: Trace wand along the length of mouse
Concentration: Medium - visualize all details of the snuffbox clearly in your mind
Willpower: Medium-Low
-Possible Backfires: lack of details, incorrect detail, snuffbox with whiskers and a tail, or a squeaking snuffbox

~A Note on Variations

-variations with live targets are different than inanimate ones
-only experienced transfigurists should ever perform variations on live creatures

~Origins

-invented by Miss Helga Ornby, who was fascinated by snuffboxes. To save money, she turned mice into snuffboxes
-great preparation for next year where focusing on complex and intricate detail is crucial
