-small, nocturnal
-Eulipotyphla
-omnivores
- 17 species
-native to Europe, Asia, and Africa
-Covered in spines actually hollow hairs rich in keratin
-spines only easily fall out under quilling
-Main defense is to roll into a ball

~Pincushion

-small cushion used as a pins and needles holder
-originated in Europe in Middle Ages
-tightly packed with stuffing materials
-pins placed inside should be easily removable

~The Transformation

-Spell: Hedgehog to Pincushion
Incantation: Ericius Languo (eh-REE-see-us LAN-gwo)
Wand Movement: Sharp downward flick
Concentration: Low - focus on hedgehog morphing into the pincushion, keeping in mind all internal changes
Willpower: Medium
-Lack of willpower could cause failed muffling of consciousness
-otherwise, hedgehog can feel every pin and prick

~Origins

-Invented in 1782 by Holly Crimp (seamstress, unrelated to Delfina Crimp)
-her pet hedgehog kept chewing holes in her pincushion
-witches most commonly use this spell
