Solangelo Death (This involves both death and suicide. If you don't want to be sad then don't read it)
Chapter 3
WARNING: Involves death and suicide
(and gayness, but if ur not okay with that then you won't be reading this book for long)
"Death Boy!" Will threw aside the bandages he was holding and ran to his boyfriend. "You're back!"
"You're grinning like a maniac Sunshine."
"Shut up Deathboy. Why're you back so soon?"
" The mission went faster than expected, and I saw no reason to be away longer than necessary." Nico shrugged "I missed you,"
"I'm glad I wasn't the only one. C'mon, let's have a picnic. We can catch up,"
Nico rolled his eyes but followed Will to the beach.
The sun had reached its peak in the fall sky, casting small puddles of shadow around the two boys. They chatted, munching on sun chips and blackberries. The ocean lazily tried to creep up to the blanket they'd spread on the soft sand. "So, how much I'm-the-son-of-hades-so-i'm-not-gonna-be-responsible-with-my-powers happened on your mission?" Will asked casually
"None!" said Nico defensively "Well, there was that bit where I got dizzy and fell over because I did the whole open-giant-cracks-in-the-ground thing. But I'm fine!" Will gave him a skeptical look. "Just don't kill yourself Deathboy"
"Don't worry sunshine"
"That's what I like to hear" They kissed happily, and for a perfect moment, everything was right and good. Then, the conch horn blew, and the broke apart. Nico sprang to his feet, glaring in the direction of Half-Blood hill. His hand tightened over the hit of his sword. "Monsters." Will jumped up beside him and nocked an arrow into his bow. He'd been practicing like crazy to finally have another skill, and he'd finally started excelling at something other than healing. "Let's go" Together they ran for the hill.
Campers poured out of cabins to face the threat. They were outnumbered three to one, but Nico shrugged that off. Camp Half-Blood had survived worse odds than these. He ran up to Thalia's pine and began dueling some Empousas (in case you didn't know those are charmspeaking vampires with fire hair) As soon as one started talking, trying to charm him, he slashed it to dust. Nico grinned at the shocked faces of the vampires around him. " Shhh, come on honey, don't you want to go get a bite to eat?" one asked sweetly. Nico turned her down with another stab. Two more tried to get him with the same effect. " What is the trickery?" the leader asked, "How have you not fallen prey to our wishes?" "Pro tip lady-" Will appeared at Nico's side"-when trying to charmspeak male demigods, first check to make sure they're straight." he fired an arrow at her and ran. Just like he'd been hoping, the group of 7 or 8 followed him, hissing angrily. Nico cursed under his breath. "this never works Sunshine" he ran after his boyfriend. Will had led the vampires to the cool shade of the forest, Nico close behind. He ran to meet him. "3, 2, 1, go!" Will whispered. They launched into battle side by side. Nico spun and ducked and dodged, slashing stabbing, parrying swipes of claws. He felt GREAT. Adrenaline coursed through his veins, alongside overwhelming affection for the guy fighting beside him. Yellow dust began choking the ground along with stray limbs. Nico ran his Stygian iron sword through what he thought was the last empousa. She shrieked with pain and excitement, looking at something behind him as she disintegrated into dust. Just then a cry split the air. Nico whipped around, saw the actual last empousa kneeling over the fallen bloody form of Will Solace, and his rage exploded.
A starburst of dead grass formed around them. The empousa collapsed, dissolving into shadow. Over on Half Blood-Hill, the ground opened up and swallowed most of the monsters whole. A cheer went up from the campers, clueless about the tragedy that had befallen them. Nico fell to his knees, dizzy and tired and blinking back tears. Will grabbed his hand. "Pr-Promise me one thing Deathboy. No-No more underworld-y magic" Nico nodded his consent and shared a last kiss with his Sunshine.
When he felt the ragged rising and falling of the son of Apollo's chest cease, Nico rose back to his knees, filled with a steely resolve not entirely unlike his father's. "Don't worry Sunshine," he whispered, "I'm going straight to the underworld, no magic required." He muttered a quick prayer to his father and drew his sword once more. With riveting determination, he plunged it into his ribcage and laid beside his sunshine to die.
It was hours before anyone noticed anything amiss. Jason and Reyna were getting progressively more worried about Nico's absence. Jason finally asked if anyone had seen Will recently. "He's probably in the woods kissing that boyfriend of his" someone yelled. He sat down, still uneasy. After dinner, they gathered the group to search for them. Pacing the edge of the camp, they didn't find a trace of anything. "Guys, I think I found something," Piper called. She kneeled and examined the dead grass. "This screams Nico di Angelo" they all ran over to where she was. Leo pointed into the trees. "It goes that way." He began walking into the woods. Soon they drew near the two boys. Percy ran to Will's side and checked for a pulse. "Dead" he announced, voice cracking. Hazel walked over to Nico, sword still in his chest, and swallowed a sob. She put her palm on the ground and muttered a few words in ancient greek. Before their eyes, gems joined and swirled into figures. They watched the whole scene play out, standing near each other for comfort. Soon enough, shiny droplets of water were falling from all the eyes in the clearing at the love and death of their comrades and friends.
