Fifth Year Struggles Inside and Outside the classroom

Chapter 6
My fifth year was a very complex year inside and outside of Hogwarts. As I grew much older, I started to become much more irritable at home with friends and family. I took refuge in practicing my magic on long walks away from home. One day, a group of No-Maj boys saw me firing a blast of flames with the Incendio spell, and they demanded I replicate my magical powers. In America, Magic was allowed to be practiced in the world once a student reached the age of 15, as long as there were no No-Majs who saw what you were doing. Fearing retribution, I quickly stunned them and wiped their memory of the incident, as a dear friend I met in my summer travels had instructed me to do.

When I got home, my family was furious that I was so reckless with playing with fire out in public, especially that No-Majs almost caught me. As a temporary solution, my parents took my wand and hid it from me, until it was time for me to return to school. It was no surprise that being forced to supress my magic against my will, that I became a host to an obscurial. There were days that I could make terrible things happen with just one scream. After the first incident, I started to spend my nights awake and fidgeting, a trait that was completely uncharacteristic of me before.

The day everything changed was after a long night awake. I had stayed up all night fuming that I had my wand taken away for nearly three months. I snapped completely in an argument and caused my family home along with a few neighboring houses to collapse completely. I ravaged through the streets in obscurial form, until the American ministry found me, stunned me, and took me into custody. As punishment for what I had done, I was to be locked in a room in complete isolation with a dementor. This period of captivity went on for one week, before the dementor completely broke me down, and eventually planted it's deadly kiss on me. Little did I know that my only biological grandfather, who hated my mother and sisters, tried to kill me in my sleep, failed, and turned me into a horcrux. The night the dementor sucked out my soul, the horcrux, and obscurus were destroyed within me. But that was not an easy fix when I woke up. Not only did I fall privy to dementor encounters after the first one, I also fell into a deep depression. My family and I were forced to leave America indefinitely, because of my reckless behavior. In my final days in America, my friend and lover I met in my summer travels taught me to produce my own patronus, which took the form of a swallow bird.

I moved to London just weeks before I was to start my fifth year at Hogwarts. I knew that it was going to be a rough year of schooling, dealing with the traumatizing events of the last few months of summer, the guilt of making my family move away from our home in America, and upcoming O.W.L exams. I took refuge with my close friends at Hogwarts and told them everything that happened over the summer. They were shocked, but stood by me anyway, and majorly helped me move out of particularly tough days of depression. I also regularly sent owls to my lover, who would frequently visit me in secret on holidays and birthdays in London. Slowly but surely, I reached a point where I was able to tackle on my problems old and new, one day at a time. After everything I had been through, I knew that it only made me so much stronger.
