Chapter 1
Lady Fate watched them carefully. In her eons of life, she'd touched everyone on Earth one way or another. The fall of the Dark Lord was spun in her cosmic thread before he was a glimmer in his mother's eye. Generations before the gods rose to power she and her sisters sat spinning their thread, preordaining every hero and villain to death or glory. Never before had their plans failed to be realized. The stars and planets were hung in the sky every night in just the right place to agree with their stories. On that night, many centuries ago she smiled at her sister, a cold wicked smile, as she affixed two new stars to the sky. These were the stars of two heroes from different worlds. Their meeting would right the world or destroy it. That is if their thread spun true. And it always did.

The Lady of the Moon looked down sadly at them, scurrying like ants across a large sphere suspended in the middle of nothingness. She knew their destiny, she knew them. She knew their hopes and joys, brightest victories, and darkest secrets. She wished she could save them, but she was powerless against the will of fate. The poor heroes would have to save themselves.
