The Fight
Chapter 2
Ella Brennan ran quickly, heading for the potions classroom. She was going to be late - would Professor Von Graft be angry? She hoped not. 17 seconds later, and she was standing by the potions classroom door. She swallowed, then pushed open the door and ran in. She was 10 minutes late.
Professor Von Graft looked up. Ella managed a smile. Von Graft smiled back. "Now sit down, Ella dear, please," she said quietly. "We have just begun to make a Healing Potion. Read this, please."
Ella took a book from the potions professor's hand, and looked down at it.
This is what it said:
1. Potion information
2. Effect. Healing, replenishes lost health and stamina to the drinker.
3. Characteristics. Blood red in colour.
4. Brewing time. Two hours.
5. Difficulty level. Beginner.
6. Known ingredients. Wormwood. Bubotuber pus. Dittany. Dragon liver.
"Okay," Ella said slowly.
2 hours later, Ella had done as best as she could with the Healing Potion. She looked at her potion, which was the colour of blood. Ella smiled to herself - that was what was meant to happen. It said so in the book.
"Time is up!" said Professor Von Graft loudly, glancing at a girl with dark hair, who was called Sarah, and she was still trying to get her potion looking right - now it looked a dark purple. She looked up at Professor Von Graft, and realising that the time was up, she quickly stopped putting stuff in her cauldron, and turned pale.
But Professor Von Graft smiled at her tenderly. Sarah smiled back - a nervous one.
Von Graft walked up to a boy's cauldron and looked at it. She smiled. "Excellent, Thomas! Your potion looks perfectly right! 10 points to Slytherin!"
"Thank you, Professor," said Thomas, smiling.
Ella glared at him, for she wanted to be the only best one at potions, and Thomas returned it back.
Professor Von Graft walked over to another plump little boy, who looked very very nervous. His potion colour had turned orange, but not blood red.
Professor Von Graft inspected it, winced a bit at the smell, but smiled at the boy. "This potion isn't bad, but it is not the best. I advise you to keep practising this one, Ken."
Ken nodded, blushing.
Von Graft inspected Sarah's potion, then another boy's and another girl's, then finally it was Ella's turn.
She smiled at Ella, then looked at her potion. She nodded and said, "Very well done, Ella! 10 points to Gryffindor!"
Ella blushed, and said thank you. Then potions was over.
When Ella was walking down to the grounds, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see who it was.
A boy with dark hair, hazel eyes, was standing there. Ella recognised it as that boy in potions, the one who was called Thomas.
"What do you want?" she asked coolly.
"Just to say that you did well in potions," he said, lowering his eyes.
Ella was surprised. For a moment, she said nothing. Then she blushed, and said, "You did too. And I'm sorry I was so mean to you in potions, before."
"It's okay," said Thomas.
"You're a Slytherin, aren't you? Well, I'm a bit surprised that a Slytherin is....." Ella quickly stopped talking.
"Nice?" Thomas asked, a bit sharply.
"Oh, no! Don't take it like that! I mean, there was Albus Potter, and Snape - they were such good Slytherins! You know that perfectly well, Thomas!"
"Hey, Ella! Who are you talking to?" a sharp voice from behind Ella and Thomas rang out.
Ella and Thomas quickly turned around.
There stood Felix, looking very angry indeed. "You're talking to a Slytherin?" he shouted. "Ella - a Slytherin! Are you off your mind?"
"Just shut up, will you, Felix?" Ella said angrily. "He's a very nice Slytherin!"
Felix glared at her, then at Thomas, then he suddenly ran up to him, and punched him.
Thomas became very angry and then they started fighting - and yelling.
Ella stood and stared, not knowing what to do.
"What's all this noise?" a sharp voice suddenly rang out.
