Miles Apart Beside You
written by UwU
The war is over, and Harry and Ginny head back for their final year of Hogwarts, in the hopes that everything can be normal for the first time in their lives. But when you're the Boy Who Lived normal, simply isn't part of the equation. School, memories, stress, friends, and romance add up to one crazy senior year. When a former enemy rises again everyone will be forced to choose between a past they hope to forget, or a future that seems uncertain. I'll try to add to it pretty often so If you like it so far please add it to your bookshelf! If you also like Hamilton then read Ahead of Our Time. It's just Lams fanfiction I've written.

Chapter One: Harry
Chapter 2
I stepped down off the front stoop of Grimmauld Place, pulling my jacket tight against the wind and rain. I sent a quick text to Ginny. 'Be there in a few'. I was eighteen now, and in the same year as her. It seemed like our relationship had been strained lately. The war had that effect. Everyone was still processing what had happened. I still couldn't look into a fireplace without seeing Hogwarts among the flames. Hermione stepped out behind me. She hadn't managed to find and fix her parents, so she's living with me. Ron better not break her heart. There's no telling what I would do to him, even if we are best mates. Hermione brushed my arm, snapping me out of my thoughts. "Ready?" I nodded to her and turned into pressing darkness.
We emerged on Kings Cross station with a whirl of rain. I felt the leather straps of the knapsack on my shoulder. Hermione had enchanted it like her beaded bag. Everything I needed for school was inside. "HARRY!!" a familiar redheaded face emerged through the smoke. "Hey Ron!" I waved awkwardly. Hermione waved, a wide smile stretching her face. Slowly, Ron made his way through the crowds to us. "Hey 'Mione. Hey Harry." They shared a quick kiss. Ugh. I'm DEFINITELY a third wheel here. I decided to walk to platform 9 3/4, they probably want to catch up anyway.
I ran through the barrier, my excitement to finally be home mounting. The darkness of the barrier cleared onto a steam-filled platform. I'm fairly tall, but I couldn't see Ginny through the thick misty cloud. That's odd. I checked my phone. 'On platform. Where u?' I texted her. Dots. 'Front of the train, away from crowd' I nervously smiled. I had a healthy amount of respect for Ginny, but it often mingled with fear. She's a boss, I wouldn't want to cross her. She could probably beat me up if she wanted to, and I'm okay with that.
"Hi Harry!" Luna smiled at me. "Luna! Hi!" I waved to her "It's good to see you, how's it going?" "Well," she said dreamily "Ginny and I have hung out a lot. Daddy is making the Quibbler a newspaper now too. We were able to go on vacation and caught a couple of crumple horned snorcacks." Luna is such a wild card but in a good way. "That's awesome Luna! Look, I need to find Ginny ok?" She nodded. "Bye Harry!" I waved back, and kept walking to the front of the train.
"Ginny?" I asked in wonderment. Her back was to me, but her hair was shoulder length now, and she was taller. "Harry!" she turned around and I could tell inside she was still the girl I'd dated. "How was summer?" "It was good, laid low at Grimauld Place for most of it. How are you?" She smiled a little sadly. "I'm okay. Everyone misses Fred but..." she trailed off a little wistfully. I got how she felt. Everyone did. So many people had been lost. Every morning when I woke up in my godfather's old room I felt that loss fresh. She shook her head, putting her usual determined look back on. "We'll figure it out at any rate. This WILL be the best senior year ever. Luna and I are really excited to graduate with all of you." "Thanks Gin, that's really sweet." I kissed her. It wasn't euphoric like others in the past. That's alright though. We'd been fallling out of touch for a while, hopefully school would be better.
