A Wizards Guide To The Muggle World
Muggles are a group of non-magical folk. This, however, is a completely useless description of them. In fact, their development without magic has not gotten the proper investigation it should be getting. Muggles are commonly thought of as a coagulation of animals who are no better than the pencil they find so utterly important to everyday life. However, the pencil and it's invention can also be thought of as magnificent and beautiful and even can surpass the wizard's way of life. As somebody who has spent time with muggles, I see them as something entirely other than the pencils we see them as. I find it interesting that the wizarding world grew away from muggles when it could have co-existed. Now it is entirely too late for this to happen. If perhaps they had co-existed, there might be other problems such as war out of fear, jealousy, or even just prejudice. The other important thing wizards need to remember is that when traveling in the muggle world, you need to be careful nowadays. This book will act as a guide for how to act in the muggle world as well as how the muggle world has developed and been seen as by the wizarding world. The most amazing thing about the muggle world is the way it has developed in comparison to ours. Their technology is the most important aspect of studying how they have lived. Those with magical ability have found it completely unimportant to pursue the wonders of technology. We have spent our time mostly looking at spells and magical benefits because that is all we know. We simply don't understand how to survive when we don't have our wand (which can be very often). When confronted with a problem that magic cannot solve, we have not found a way to survive. The muggles are forced to deal with this problem every day. They have an innovative ability for problem-solving and using tools to help them. They spent their time developing technology using their resources. Their use of the pen instead of the quill and ink is another strange incident of their development. I find that this was a byproduct of their quick instinct to improve through the use of devices. Another example of technology that magic does not provide is their ability to have the world in their pocket. It provides information that would otherwise have to be provided by book or newspaper. These devices also allow the user to communicate over long distances almost instantaneously. The alternative is to use a letter sent by owl which is not always trustworthy. Some of the technology that was necessary to their survival was the dishwasher due to the fact that they could not use magic to quickly get food off of plates. Another example of this was the airplane considering the fact that they didn't have broomsticks as a means of transportation. They got used to coming up with new ways to make life easier. We are the equivalent of the spoiled brat who got everything they wanted and therefore never learned to cook or clean on their own. The muggles were not given magic, but they found their own way to live in the world. The mindset of one that has been given powers is extremely flawed. They are human just like us. Speaking as a magic-user myself, we often see the muggles as little more than animals when in actuality, our mindset has been so brainwashed by prejudice that we don't even see past our own lies to make ourselves look good. We have been given our powers and although nobody truly understands where it came from or why we have it, we act like it is a sign of authority. We see the muggles as mindless because of their ignorance of our existence, when that was entirely unnecessary. It's something akin to writing a number on a piece of paper, putting it in our pocket and then going to great extent to see it that nobody else knows the number and pretending like they are stupid because they don't know the number. We are not superior to them. We are equals. Our magic equates to their ability to learn and create by themselves without being given a gift. Muggles do also strive for something more exciting than their own lives. They struggle to make it in the boring life they were stuck with while we do not realize what they would do for a different life like the one we have. We keep telling ourselves that we are better than muggles while we do not realize that in some ways they are completely equal to us, no matter our ability. When walking about in the muggle world, it will do you good to remember that they have their own culture and they are not less than you. It is important not to make mention of anything relating to magic, magical items or creatures, magical people, etc. Now that we have covered the obvious, it is important to get to the less obvious. Their transportation consists of cars, buses and other large vehicles. It is important not to stand in front of these and to stay out of the road until the light on a string turns red. They do not have carriages like we do. This is seen by some as the most important tool in the muggle world. The second most important thing to remember is that the people here seem to be upset about everything. Their life is either too simple, too complicated, too exciting, not exciting enough, or just plain old annoying. This is always an important thing to count on when speaking with muggles. However, it might not be nice to bring up the subject of just how unhappy they are when in a conversation. The third most important thing to remember is to always have your smartphone. It allows you to communicate, entertain yourself, learn more about muggles, and to find places to go for food and other necessities. The food is very different, so it may take a while to adjust. The muggle world is very different from ours, but that doesn't mean that it is any worse.
