Chapter Six: Not Today... AGAIN

Chapter 6
"C'mon, Lily," Lily muttered. "You have to do this! We've got like, nine months? Till we go to Hogwarts. I really want to get one hundred meetings before we go, but if we're going to be like this, we won't make seventy! I got to do this." she took a deep breath, and knocked.
"Who's it?" asked an airy voice.
Lily let out a relieved sigh. For days only Luna had answered the door and she'd always said that the twins were busy. She was so exasperated at the answer, she was ready to give up if she didn't get an answer from the twins this time.
"LYSANDER!" she screamed.
Lysander slammed the door shut, the door he'd opened barely.
"LYSANDER!" Lily screamed again.
"No, I'm sorry! We're busy!" Lysander said almost hysterically.
"EXCUSE ME? HOW CAN ANYBODY BE BUSY FOR LIKE, FOUR MONTHS?" Lily yelled, her anger bursting finally.
"Please, Lily!" Lysander said helplessly. "We have things to do!"
Lily eyed Lysander coldly. "Sure you do," she said. "I'll make sure I never bother you. I'll never visit you guys again. Never ever."
"No! Lily! That's not it! Hear me out!"
'Too late,' Lily thought grimly. She turned her back and began walking back home.
"Lily! Please! Hear us out!"
'Us?'
Lily turned, and saw Lorcan yelling too.
"LILY!"
Lily hesitated. It was a bit... cold to leave them like this, wasn't it? But... she wanted to show them she could be cross, very cross if she wanted to.
"What do you have to say?" she called out finally.
The Scamander Twins smiled. "C'mon."
Lorcan called, and the two disappeared inside the house.
Once inside the twins' room, Lily could see they'd done interior. Magical Creatures were drawn on the walls. Their beds were twins, with light brown wood and a matching blanket and pillow that had Nifflers and gold objects drawn on it.
"It's beautiful," she breathed.
The Scamander twins shared a smile.
"But why," Lily said, turning serious quickly, "Have you been shutting me out all these times?"
Their smiles faded. "Lily, listen." Lorcan said.
"I am listening."
"We didn't mean to shut you out. We just had some important stuff to do. We'll contact you as soon as we finish the stuff." Lorcan said hurriedly.
"And when do you think the project might end, may I ask?" snapped Lily.
"I don't know, we'll be done before we go to Hogwarts." Lysander said carefully. "Right, Lorcan?"
Lorcan nodded. "Yeah, it'll be finished in time."
Lily exploded. "Don't say in riddles like that!" she yelled. "Just say it! You don't want to play! THE END! I've heard enough of it! You get me inside your stupid Magical Animal Room and all you say is something I heard all the sixteen weeks? WE'RE BUSY? Why don't you just ignore? That's easier and better for the both of us! In this rate you'll never have friends, just like your..." she faltered, seeing the twins' faces grow stony. "Sorry." she whispered.
"Just like our who?" Lorcan asked stonily. "Mother? Father?"
"I don't know about your dad." Lily whispered. "I meant your mum. She was different."
"Weird, you meant to say," Lorcan hissed.
"No... well, she was, but..."
"The end, just like you said."
"The project is involving Magical Creatures, and we're doing it with Dad! You know he travels a lot, it's our only chance to do this! We've been working on it for a year and probably more! You know how we love Dad, this is our chance to spend time with him before we go to Hogwarts! We need one year, 365 days! We can't rest for one day or so, we have to do it everyday for a year! Understand, Lily, please!" Lysander said.
"For once in your life," Lorcan added coldly. "Think of others too, not only yourself."
Lily looked at Lorcan, dumbfounded. "Now I see who you really are," she whispered. "Lysander, I understand, you wanted to spend time with him. I see what you two are capable of." she ran away, hiding tears as she ran. She wanted to get far away from that place as possible.
