Chapter Four: A Little To Fast Means I Have Changed
Chapter 4
Lily glanced at the clock. 'Ten?' she thought sleepily. 'Oh, it's ten forty. Where's everybody?'
Lily walked out from her room. "WHAT DATE IS IT?" she yelled.
"September 1st." said a voice coming from somewhere from the house.
"Then-wait what?" Lily's eyes bulged. "They left without me?" She dashed to her phone which her dad had bought her the previous year. She shook the phone angrily. "How does this thing work?" she complained, rattling it.
"Very well," the voice replied tonelessly.
"Thank you, Lifeless Owl Answerer. Great help."
"Thank you for your compliment, Miss Lily Luna Potter," hooted the L.O.A.
"I was being sarcastic!" Lily muttered. "Muggles are brilliant. How do they work these things? Ooh! Dial! Yeah... The phone number...? I think Dad wrote it down and glued it... Here!"
Lily dialed Harry's number and waited patiently while the phone sang with a strange noise. "Hello? Lily? Is that you?"
"Oh, Dad! How could you have left without me?"
Lily could hear an amused chuckle. "We didn't! Come quick to the garage."
"Oh!" Lily hung up, dashed to her closet and threw on some clothes. She dashed out of the house and found their blue car waiting for her. She tapped on the window and when Albus opened the door, she jumped in. "I thought you left without me," she panted.
James smirked. "We would've liked to."No, no need. Sit here and wait. I'm sure they'll come around soon enough." Ten minutes later drowsy-looking Lorcan and Lysander Scamander clambered down the stairs. Their eyes both widened when they saw Lily sipping tea and talking with their mother, who was also Lily Luna Potter's godmother. "Lily?" Lorcan asked incredulously. "What are you doing here?" "Me? I'm waiting for you guys to wake. I was waiting." she corrected quickly. "It's our fifty seventh meeting today. Hugo'll join us shortly, I think. I thought maybe we could start first together!" Lysander started to say something, but Lorcan gave him the "eye" and said, "No, sorry, Lily, not today." "Why? Do you have anything to do?" "Yeah. Dad and we were going to continue our experiment," Lysander said apologetically. "But we can always postpon-" "No, we can't." Lorcan interrupted. "Sorry, Lily. It's a really important experiment to us. Lysander's just offering that because... well, we both like it. But this is really important." "What is it?" Lily asked, raising an eyebrow. Seriously, she could ask this, sure she could. Why were the Scamander twins giving her the "exasperated look"? "Something involving Nargles," Lorcan replied. "It's really interesting." added Lysander. "Do you want to... you know, do it with us?" Lily wrinkled her nose. "No thank you," she replied. "Sorry, but I... think I have to go home. Maybe Mum and Dad'll be here." Luna glanced at the clock. "Do you think they went by car? Or Floo Powder?" "We usually go by car." Lily replied. "We all love it. Floo Powder's a bit..." she wrinkled her nose again. "You know. Dusty?" Luna smiled. "Very dusty," she agreed. "Well, if they went by car, they'll be arriving soon. It's eleven twenty already." "Oh, well, do you have time tomorrow?" Lily asked the boys. "No." Lorcan and Lysander together, a little too quickly. Lily narrowed her eyes, but sighed and quickly gave up. "Fine," she said. "If you don't want to tell me, fine. Come to my home when you have the time." When she turned she muttered, "Which you seem never will have." "Wha?" Lysander asked anxiously, but Lily just shrugged and said, "Bye." - Hope you enjoyed! I do think I was lousy this time...
