Chapter Twelve: Rose's Advice On Hogwarts

Chapter 12
At the first Saturday she had in Hogwarts, Lily Potter was ambushed. By none other than her cousin... Rose Granger-Weasley.

"Lily, wake up!" rushed Rose. "I've got loads of advice for you. I've been writing them down." she looked eager to share.

"Can Holly and Demeter come too?"

Rose shrugged. "It's fine," she responded. "I'm bringing some of my friends too, like Maya Carter."

Lily thought this whole lesson was really concentrated on 'Avoid certain people who have platinum blond hair, grey eyes and is kinda good-looking and also has the name Malfoy and is nicknamed Scorpion King by some ridiculous followers'.

"This is important," told Rose the girls formally. "People like to trick. Saw Rhonda Keyes and Godfrey Walker? They'll kill you before you know it. So you need to be careful when making new friends. Rhonda, for instance, is very clingy. Avoid clingy people. Godfrey is very... sly. Sly people are warned. Also..."

"But this is prejudice," Holly pointed out.

"Silence!" snapped Rose. "Anyway, avoid platinum blond people, grey eyed people, and people who are Slytherins, and is older than you, and who is the son of somebody hated."

"It all points to Scorpius Malf-" Holly said.

"SILENCE!" Rose snapped. "You must also avoid people who cross your instincts. There is nothing more trustworthy than your instincts. Got it?"

"Got it," said Demeter.

"Me too!" said Holly.

"Yup," Lily said.

"Wait. If my instincts say not to trust this advice you say, what should I do? You're the one who told me to trust my instincts, but if my instincts say I shouldn't trust your advice..." Demeter shook her head frustratedly. "Have an answer? It's contradict..." she trailed off at Rose's sigh.

"I hope your instincts won't say that," she said, "because if I had this advice, I'd be very good right now."

"Okay, sorry, Rose." mumbled Demeter.

Rose sighed again. "Am I being... abusive? Sorry. Just wanted to make a happy life for you." but then she turned. "But never ever trust people like Rhonda Keyes and Godfrey Walker."

"Got it, Rose." said Lily.

"Oh, we'll be sure of that," promised Demeter.

"Of course." said Holly solemnly.

Rose grinned. "Get me if you need any advice on Hogwarts!" she called. Then she added, "One last thing. One thing the Golden Trio always ignored. Don't get in trouble. Okay? Sort out things with adults."

"Of course, Miss Weasley," said Lily.

Rose grinned. "Have any of you seen Molly? She's the prefect, remember? So I'm going to report James to her." she sniffed indignantly.

"I saw a fifth grader at the library, wearing a prefect badge." said Demeter. "Early this morning, before Lils came to fetch me."

"Oh, that must be her. Thanks, Demeter." Rose smiled.

"What did James do?" called Lily.

"Oh! That's it! Last advice. Never throw dungbombs! That's what James Sirius Potter did! Why on earth did Uncle Harry have to name him 'James Sirius'? Honestly! Names cause trouble!" grumbling, Rose hurried away.

"The last pieces of advice were fine," commented Holly.

"Useful," agreed Demeter.

"But I doubt many would listen." added Lily.

Demeter burst into laughter. "I totally agree, Lils."
