Characters in order of how you meet them: Becka Mason, Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow), Steven Rogers (Captain America) Becka Mason It was a normal day for me. I was sitting in my room playing halo on my newly purchased Xbox, listening to soundtracks for my all time favourite musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, and thinking about my uncle. Life had not been as normal as it used to be ever since Uncle Phil died. My uncle Phil had worked as an official secretary for government security. Even though he had passed on just over two years ago, I have been incomplete ever since; and even though I had seen his dead body at his funeral I still did not believe that I had lost him. One thing was different about today though, in only a few hours one of my uncle’s very best “friends” was going to pick me up and take me to where they used to work together. At first my parents were reluctant to let their 15 year old daughter off with a man they had never met before, but since I was extremely close to my uncle, they finally agreed. Three hours later the man who was supposed to pick me up “arrived”. Except it was not a male who had come, no, it was a young red headed female in an exceedingly expensive car. When she exited the car I was giving her a questioning look and invited her inside. “I would love to see your house and I do need to talk to your parents, but we have to get to the air port in an hour and it took me forty minutes to get here so I will have to be fast. Now go get your stuff.” The lady said referring to the time it takes to get to my far away farm in the country. I pulled my small bag that was packed for a three day vacation into the living room. As soon as I entered I was informed that the trip will be a little longer than expected, I was going to be away till September and it was March. I wasn’t told why but I accepted the offer and quickly gathered all my clothes, then scurrying off into the fancy car I kissed my parents goodbye. I was gone. Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) My mission was simple, retrieve the young lady from Canada, and bring her back to headquarters to meet with Director Fury. There were small complications such as getting the parents to agree to let their only daughter who was only 15 to leave their care for over 6 months. Also doing this and still managing to keep the real reason they were retrieving her secret. I was good at doing these sorts of things though, it was my specialty. I had been able to gain knowledge of a Russian spy’s plan without him even realizing it. I had arrived at the young lady’s house and when she saw me she looked surprised. “I was expecting a man.” She said abruptly, “The one who had spoken to me on the phone two weeks ago, he said that he would be coming to get me.” The confusion in her eyes seemed clear. “Well, you see Mr. Fury had an appointment and I had to come and escort you to New Mexico.” After she accepted this she had invited me inside. We only had a short time until we had to be back at the airport to jump on the plane that would take us to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, but it was just enough to get her parents to agree to let her go. On the drive to the airport both of us wouldn’t talk. I was willing to speak whenever I was provoked but to strike up a conversation with a fifteen year old, I hadn’t done that in 10 years. It was all right though. Long drives were best taken with silence. Becka had broken the silence only for a moment asking if she could turn on the radio. She turned it on to a country station and that was all we heard until we got to the airport. Steve Rogers (Captain America) Growing weary with waiting for Natasha I continued to read an appealing article in the Edmonton Journal about their hockey team, the Oil Kings, winning their biggest game of the season. Since I was still catching up on what the world was about, I found it useful to read various newspapers from multiple towns. Even though I was intrigued with this story it was still quite tiresome having to wait a few hours for Natasha and a girl who I had just found out was named Becka. I had no idea why we were picking her up, and how Fury even knew about her, but never the less I was awaiting two women that I would escort back to headquarters in this very large private jet. Natasha was just pulling up when the engine of the plane roared to life. Running toward the plane Natasha had pulled Becka in front of her and I pulled her up into the plane, and then proceeded to help Natasha up. We flew over Niagara Falls and continued for the next hour and ten minutes until we finally landed in one of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s private runways. The whole ride was silent except for the five minutes it took for Becka to locate the bathrooms and come back to find us, in which Natasha and I talked about our guest; neither of us knowing her back story or why she was with us. “Why do you think that Fury requested us to pick her up?” I simply questioned knowing that even if Natasha knew she probably would lie about it. “Honestly Steve, I have no idea. I mean Fury tells us that this is a simple op, it requires no knowledge in reasons why she is coming out here, or who she really is. All he told me was that we will find out what we need when the time is right.” Confused we thought up multiple scenarios, we laughed with some and thought deeply about others. We still would not be able to know what Fury was up to, or why.

Chapter Summary: Chapter Summery Currently Unavailable.

Characters in order of how you meet them: Agent Maria Hill, Nick Fury, Becka Mason, Steve Rogers (Captain America)

Agent Maria Hill

“Sir, we just received reports that the train Romanoff’s team is on has been compromised.” I spoke as soon as I walked into Fury’s office. With one look Fury could answer any question you had, or even make you feel incompetent but this look could not be read, you couldn’t even guess what it might mean.

“When did this happen? What are the reports saying?” Fury’s words were crisp and lacking in emotion.

“The reports are saying that thirteen people were locked in the dining car at 7:13 pm Friday April 25th the attention was brought on by multiple gunshots. There was one woman, five feet three inches, with red hair. The rest were men all armed.” I was dismissed after telling him all I knew. I didn’t know what to do know. This is two S.H.I.E.L.D. teams that had gone missing within one week of each other. What was happening to S.H.I.E.L.D.? We had never had this many problems ever. Not even when the aliens invaded New York.

Becka Mason

I couldn’t sleep that night, so I continued to sit in my room while everyone went out to eat. I loved seeing my Uncle again, but something seemed off about him. He didn’t seem like himself. I only hoped that he was really as okay as he said he was. I was proud of him for being so brave as to work in this organization. I loved him a lot, I never want to see him hurt or dead again.

Looking out the window I saw the gloomy clouds blanketing the sky in a dull grey while the rain poured down from the heavens and pelted my windows. I wanted to be home curled up on the couch with a nice large cup of creamy orange pekoe tea, a soft blanket, and my favourite book (which I had brought with me). Instead of orange pekoe tea I had some Earl Grey, with two sugars and two creams, no soft blanket either, just a slightly scratchy one that was on my bed. So I curled up on the small chair in my room and read. I was taken into the world of Harry Potter as he began his fourth year at Hogwarts, but I was interrupted by a large sound. The sound of a gunshot, only a few cars down, made me spill my tea onto the floor, just missing my book and blanket.

Steve Rogers (Captain America)

This was not the trip home I had been hoping for. Wishing I could have a break from fighting, I had been beat up before Dr. Erskine injected me with his formula, which made me hate having to attack people. I know that pushing people down and beating them was necessary in some situations, but that doesn’t mean I have to enjoy it. Once I had shoved the last man to the ground he had whispered “Hail Hydra”. I thought I had heard him wrong. I thought Hydra went down with The Red Skull in World War II, that wasn’t even the strangest part. Searching him when he was unconscious I found that he was an agent for S.H.I.E.L.D. This was news to us all. Who would try and kill fellow agents? We work together for the same greater good. Didn’t we?

Nick Fury

“Ten, these ten other men were agents? S.H.I.E.L.D. agents?” I was utterly confused. Why would these agents attack my team? There must have been some mistake.

“That is what Rogers and Romanoff said. After they were knocked out, our team searched them only to find badges issued by S.H.I.E.L.D. These men even had level six clearance. Also Steve said something about Hydra but the line went dead before he could say anything more.” Agent Hill filled me in on how the train was now not on their radar and it had “disappeared”. My confusion was not getting any weaker; in fact it got so strong Agent Hill called me on it.

“Do you know how we are going to get a hold of them sir? Sir, you look as confused as I feel. I will keep you updated; hopefully we will regain contact soon.”

“What about Miss Mason? Do we know what has happened to her?”

“No communication from her sir. Sorry.”
