Chapter 17
"I refuse." He said plainly, smirking. "I refuse to believe that." Harry looked at Hermione who had crossed her arms, and tried to put on a snooty face. It really didn't suite her. "Hermione, I think Ginny's right."
"And I suppose you're a genius, is that correct?" she asked mockingly, putting her books back in her bag. Defense Against the Dark Arts had been same as always- Professor Snape had assigned them extra homework because Hermione had apparently spoken out of turn. It really wasn't fair sometimes... "What exactly did Ginny tell you?" Hermione asked, picking up her bag and starting out of the room. Harry followed her, adjusting his glasses.
"She told me a lot of things, but left it vague." She nodded, but didn't say anything. Hermione was glad that Ginny had left some things blank; Harry would have never let her forget that she had been nice to Draco Malfoy. Furthermore, he was her new partner in Potions... she had many, many things to keep secret. Including the fact that she, Hermione Granger, had the smallest crush on Draco Malfoy. If Harry knew, that would be the end of existence for her. Words couldn't fathom the embarrassment. At that thought, her face reddened the slightest.
Harry glanced at her; Hermione wasn't paying attention to anything he was saying. She seemed to be deep in thought- thinking, yet aware of her surroundings. In this world, yet not. She was blushing as she thought about whatever it was. As she noticed Harry staring, she lifted her chin, crossed her arms, and started walking at a quicker pace.
"Slow down, will you?" Harry said, struggling to keep up with her.
"I have to speak with your girlfriend." she stated, glancing at him. "I'll see you later." Harry sighed, and started walking the opposite direction.

As Hermione walked into the Gryffindor common room, she saw the Weasley, who was now writing on a piece of parchment. She was relieved to see that Ginny was alone, not wanting anyone else to hear their conversation. Hermione cleared her throat, dropping her bag on the couch behind her and crossing her arms.
She looked up from the paper, brushing a strand of fire- red hair out of her eyes. She folded her hands on the table and smiled. "Yes?"
