written by Adelaide Dubois
Adelaide Rothschild is a French-English student of Hogwarts. Due to her mother's French heritage and family past at Beauxbatons, she has come on campus many times, sometimes even living there for weeks on end. A Guide to Beauxbatons Academy of Magic allows for Hogwarts students to glimpse what life is like for their French counterparts. Disclaimer: Not everything said here is real. Arrival At Beauxbatons
Chapter 5
Before Arrival
By August 3rd of each school year, Beauxbatons First Years are notified of their acceptance by a pegasus pendant that they will find on their bedside in the morning. Muggle-born students are notified the same way, however, later in the day, a Beauxbatons staff member will visit in order to explain the situation.
Students may get their supplies from previous students or they may choose to buy their uniform, equipment, and books at the Flamelstone Street tucked away in Paris. Flamelstone is only accessible by witches and wizards and can be found near the Opera. Flamelstone stores include Archambeau’s Uniforms, Le Chevrolet Glace, and Auclair and Chancy Books.
The term starts September 3rd and students heading to Beauxbatons may arrive via different modes of transport. On September 1st, carriages are sent out to collect all first year and second years. This is required. 3rd years and up may request a carriage or choose to take a train or their own personal vehicle.
At Arrival
All students are dropped off atop Pegasus Cliff on a nearby mountain. From there, they will follow a path to the school. First years must walk and will be given a tour of the grounds before entering the school. 2nd years and up may take a carriage. When the first years arrive at the castle, they will be sorted into their houses by way of a silver arrow. They must shoot the arrow and the tip will explode into whatever the color of their house. This ceremony takes place in the Ballroom with all students watching. Following the ceremony, students are to go to their respective house towers where they will be shown their dorms. Shortly after settling in, dinner is served in the Ballroom where students must dine with the entire school. This only occurs on the First Day. Meals must be eaten in the Dining Halls afterwards. By 10pm, students must be in their dorms and by 11pm, they must be in bed. The first week of school is merely an introductory week. Students choose their classes and will be introduced to professors and deputies alike. Week 1 allows for a very informal way however the following weeks will be stricter and tardies will not be tolerated. Week 1 will also allow students to explore the castle and its grounds at their will. However they may not enter areas considered restricted. Students must be in their uniforms at arrival
