Welcome!
Chapter 1
Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the most pristine magical school in England, practising our 993rd year of excellence! I hope you've settled into our comfy little home well! Your luggage has been taken to its appropriate house and dorm where you will be living off and on the next seven years!
A brief history
Hogwarts was built in the later tenth century, founded in the year 990 A.D. by Salazar Slytherin, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Godric Gryffindor. Yes, the very houses you will be residing in are named after the very infrastructure of the school! Each witch and wizard had the same desire to create the best wizarding school and put their heads together and created Hogwarts. After the Great Battle of Hogwarts, classes became more flexible and Hogwarts is Here was born.
Houses, explained.
During your stay at Hogwarts, you will stay in one of four houses. You were sorted into these houses based on your personality which is undoubtedly similar to the very godfather's of this school.
If you're a Ravenclaw: Congratulations! You were sought out by your intelligence and eagerness to learn. You are expected to, and probably won't have trouble with, have the best grades!
If you're a Hufflepuff: Congratulations! You tend to be a tad friendlier than most and have patience as well as brains!
If you're a Gryffindor: Congratulations! You are brave and charismatic, ready for what ever comes your way no matter what it may be!
If you're a Slytherin: Congratulations! You are self oriented and ambitious, often weighing out all possibilities before acting!
Classes and scheduling.
All first years are required to take basic courses their first year: Astronomy, Charms, Defense Against the Dark Arts, Herbology, History of Magic, Potions and Transfiguration. Extra curricular classes are optional. Classes are flexible and learn at your own pace, usually taken over the course of nine weeks if you follow the lesson structure (more on scheduling suggestions in Chapter 3).
So what's in the book?
This book is from a first year to a first year. In a sense, this is everything I learned as a first year that made my first year the easiest year. This also my survival guide that I would like to share with you. Happy reading!
