Against All Odds

written by Kahala Naga

According to Kahala Naga, Darius Loire is an annoying, thinks-he's-better-than-everyone-else Slytherin jerk. She's a pureblood, too, and it's no surprise when she gets sorted into Slytherin. She's in the same house as her mortal enemy, Darius. They always fight, constantly feuding about magic and rank in the wizarding society. But...they seem to have a connection beyond just being at the same school and in the same house. It lies beyond lifetimes.

Chapter 2
"Hey guys!" Called Ria Cho from across the room. She was in her eighth year, a prefect, and also the keeper of the Slytherin Quiddich team. Kahala admired Ria, for the 18-year-old had perfect grades, and kept up with her duties. Not to mention that Ria was one of the most considerate people in all of Slytherin. She was ambitious, that's for sure, which was probably why Ria was in this house, instead of Ravenclaw.
"Hi Ria." Kahala responded, waving. "When's practice?" she called, taking a few steps towards the prefect.
"This Saturday. Could you remind Angel and Sorren next time you run into them?"
"Sure." she replied, nodding. "Are you going later?" she asked, unable to hide the excitement in her voice.
"Heck yeah!" she replied, nodding enthusiastically. "I wouldn't miss it for the world."
"See you there, then!" She walked back over to Leetah and Kai, taking the steps out of the common room two at a time. The three walked out of the dungeons, and out to the courtyard where they were meeting Celestia. Yesterday, it had been raining. They were lucky that today it was sunny. The puddles on the ground had dried up quickly last night, and there was no speck of water. It was truly a beautiful November day. They ran to where she was sitting; underneath a long- limbed willow tree, reading a thick- thin paged book. She looked up, tucking a strand of dark auburn hair behind her ear. She smiled, sticking a Gryffindor- patterned bookmark between the pages.
"That's your twentieth book this week!" exclaimed Kai, glancing at the one she held in her hand.
"No, it's my sixth." Celestia replied sarcastically, holding out her hand for someone to pull her up. Kai rolled her eyes, grinning. Celestia stood up, brushing off her white shirt, and straightening the Gryffindor tie that had become undone. She adjusted a gold and white bracelet that was clasped on her left wrist.
"You still wear it?" Kahala asked, giving a slight smile.
Celestia nodded, glancing down at it. "I haven't taken it off in a while." she admitted, hints of pride and amusement in her voice. "Anyway. We should go. I don't want us to be late."
