So if you don't know what a Horcrux is then you're in luck because this chapter is dedicated to that. So a Horcrux is an object of which a wizard or witch places part of there soul in. By doing that makes them immortal. But to do this you must kill someone for killing shatters the soul. So you do this spell that goes with a potion (book on this in Conclusion) I cannot tell you because I don't know much about them.
Tom made 7 of them because the strongest magical number. Here are the Horcruxes he made:
1: The locket of Salazal Slytherin
2: His diary
3: His Snake
4: The ring of Marvolo Gaunt
5: Helga Hufflepuff's goblet
6: The Diadem of Rowena Ravenclaw
7: Harry
If you are wondering the only thing that can destroy a horcrux is Basilisk venom. The sword works because it has basilisk venom. If you are wondering why Tom hid one of the Horcruxes in the cave then reread the beginning.
