Arno, You'Re A Wizard !
Chapter 1
It was
quite the shock when I found out I am wizard. I live with my parents in a small
town In Flanders, located in Belgium. I had a normal childhood, never had any
sign that I was magical. But there it was, the letter of Hogwarts, school of
Witchcraft and Wizardry. I will never forget the day that I received it.
It was a sunny day in June. I was playing
with our dog until I saw something strange. I saw a small, brown owl, flying in
the middle of the day. I was too busy staring at her elegance that I didn't
notice her heading for me. I jumped up when she landed right in front of me.
She showed a letter on her talon. I couldn't believe it was the first time I
noticed it. I grabbed the letter and opened it while watching the owl fly away.
I could never forget the words:
Dear Mr. Plas,
We are pleased to inform you that you have
been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find
enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your
owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Jæcob Balgog
Headmaster
When I showed my parents they were first
shocked."How could we
have a wizard as a son?" they thought. But after the shock came
the pride. They were very happy for me. The next day we immediately went to
Diagon Alley. With the help of the instructions of Headmaster Balog we went
straight to the wizard bank called Gringotts. With a special program for
Muggleborns, we received enough money for buying anything we needed, although
it had to be second-hand. We bought robes in Second-hand Robes, some old books
in Flourish and Botts and an owl in Eeylops Owl Emporium. It was a
beautiful scops owl. It is a very cute and tiny owl. It was the cheapest owl in
the shop because it was so little. We also got a discount after we explained
that it would be the only to talk to my parents while I was at school. Next
stop was Ollivanders Wand Shop. Although his wands are very expensive, they
said he gave discount to Muggleborn wizards in exchange for something else. I
offered him my help and he accepted. I got the right wand after a while. It was
an 11 3/4 inch long , slightly yielding wand made of Laurel with a core of
Phoenix Feather. After I had to promise I had to come for 2 weeks to help with
Ollivander, we went home. I was very excited, especially with the fact I had a
wand. My mother already took it away from me that same day because I kept
breaking things by moving my wand. I couldn't wait until school started.
For the rest of the time, I already started
to read my books, helped Ollivander in the shop. On 31 August I packed my trunk
and waited for the first day.
Until next time
