She was running, running from the one thing that couldn't quite catch her. The boys, they always liked to pick on her never really giving a reason why, maybe it was for the way something so tiny could project such a loud voice when threatened, but as they chased her down the streets and back alleyways they hadn't realized this was the moment their lives would change, a moment lost to time, from dirty street rats to well mannered orphans, and they continued to chase her until their knees were weak from running and their breathing ragged from from laughing. It was a mutual friendship between the five of them, eat together, sleep together, look out for each other, if they weren't doing anything that involved all of them they stayed as quiet as mice, never giving any sense that they were there, but on that day Ms.Cheshire, the old women who lived in the small house at the end of the road, payed this tiny girl a visit. Now no one ever really knew her name, because well she never really talked to anyone other than the boys and they only ever used her nickname, Mouse. Now, the boys were a different story, trouble makers those boys were, it use to just be the four of them, Benji, Henry, Eric, And James, until little Mouse showed up one day they've been inseparable ever since. Ms.Cheshire was a kind old women, she might of been a bit mad, but she was still pleasant company, she always fed them and let them bathe and sleep in her house, and sometimes she would bring them clothes, now they weren't up to date but they were clean never the less, today she went off crazier than usual and kept whispering things about Mouse having the special abilities. After that day, no one really saw much of that kind old women, some say she was sent to an asylum others to her grave, in the end the children were sent to an orphanage just outside of Phoenix, Arizona. That was the day the tiny 10 year old Mouse, took Ms.Cheshire's words to heart. "Sometime my little Mouse, things happen and people must go, but don't ever be afraid to ask your brothers for help, when time comes you will understand, that this battle doesn't have to be fought alone."
