Hogwarts was founded hundreds of years ago, by arguably the four greatest wizards and witches of all time: Godric Gyrffindor, Rewena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazaar Slytherin. They built Hogwarts as a school for the magically gifted. A place where all magical folk are equal. Godric, Rewena and Helga were happy with this idea, but Salazaar disagreed. He believed that all wizards and witches whose parents were muggles should be rejected by Hogwarts. Now, Hermione Granger, the cleverest witch of her age, was a muggle-born. She did great things. Salazaar left the other three founders and built a secret chamber within the castle. The Chamber of Secrets. This is where he kept his pet, the killer of muggle-borns. The Basalisk. The Basalisk was slain by Harry Potter in his second year. But the Basalisk had already killed Moaning Myrtle, fifty years before. Salazaar stored the Basalisk there so that his heir could return and continue killing muggle-borns. The heir of Slytherin was Tom Marvolo Riddle. Lord Voldemort.
