Chapter 20
''Carol! Happy birthday!'' Sarah said, a huge grin on her face. ''Thanks. How are you?'' After we talked for a few more minutes, she went to Vivian's room.
I never really liked Vivian. She was always rude for no reason. It was just foolish. Once I said mom how mean she was and she told I shouldn't be bothered by it. I didn't understand. How could I be quiet about it? Shouldn't I say something?
Later I understood that mom was actually right. Speaking against the manor was wise. He was cruel. NBut Vivian was just stupid. And I shouldn't waste my anger on her.
'There's nothing as strong as rage. Except what makes you hold it in. That's stronger' Aunty Laura told me this before she died. I vividly remember that. I had gone to her house. She was so weak, yet she had a smile on her face. I still can't figure out why she was smiling.
I heard footsteps and I looked up to see Carol . Behind her stood Vivian.
