Lyra - The Dancing Daughters
Chapter 1
Lyra - The Dancing Daughters
In a distant past, on this
very land, lived a witch named Vega and her four gracious daughters.
Vega was famous in town for playing the most beautiful songs on the harp
(on that time it was called a lyra), songs that people would say were
enchanted. And not only that, but as soon as the sound of the harp was
heard, Vega's daughters would begin to dance with such beauty and easy
that most wizards were sure that they were Vella in disguise. One
warlock in town was so fascinated by the girls that he swore that he
would marry one of them.
The problem was that this particular
warlock was irascible and cruel, and Vega, trying to dissuade him,
proposed a test. He should dance with her daughters, and if any one of
them got tired first, he could marry her. But if he got tired first,
there would be no wedding. The warlock, famous for being a strong
warrior, accepted.
Vega began to play her lyra, and the girls
began to dance. The warlock danced with them for three days and three
nights, but they did not seem tired. The warlock, realizing he was going
to loose the bet, got furious. He mustered his last strength and curse
all five woman with a Tarantallegra spell, saying that since they liked
music so much, they would dance until death.
their feet were tired and their bodies hurt, but could not do anything
to stop the music. Grandmother Moon, feeling sorry for their fate,
decided to help. She took Vega and her daughters to the Reign of Night
Sky, were all creatures slept during day, so that Vega and her daughters
would only dance at night time. And to this day, if you look up in a
clear night, you can see a very bright star that is Vega playing her
lyra, and her four daughters dancing in a circle right in front of her.
