Day 3 : Diagon Alley

Chapter 3

Dear Diary ,

I just noticed I never told you about what happened when I got my Acceptance letter from Hogwarts or what happened on Diagon Alley! I'll start by telling you about How I got my letter!

Well , I was at home with my Mother and Father when a letter came through the letterbox. My mum went to the door and found the Acceptance letter and showed it to my dad but she then through it in the recycling. My dad talked to me that night about the letter and what Hogwarts was and how he knew because My uncle is a wizard and went there. I got SO excited that I couldn't sleep that night. The next day 3 letters more came through the letter box the next day and mum dismissed them again. However , I snuck out and grabbed one of the letters out of the recycling and then read it through. It said how I was accepted and had the list of the things I needed for school. I asked my dad to come with me to see my Uncle again so I could get into this so-called 'Diagon Alley'. The next day me , my dad and my uncle journeyed to London and before we went to the Wizard Shops , I begged my dad to let us go sight-seeing for a bit. After that , my dad left me and my Uncle outside a pub named The Leaky Cauldron. I pecked him on the cheek a goodbye and went into the pub.

As for Diagon Alley... That was truly a Magical experience :

I slipped inside the Leaky cauldron only to be greeted by many witches and wizards who had already come out of Hogwarts. I smiled politely at each and everyone of them until we reached the backdoor. My uncle opened the door for me as I gratefully glided past him to find my-self glaring at a brick wall. My uncle pulled out his wand and touched a few bricks with it. suddenly , Brick began to pull apart to reveal a lane full of students and wizards and witches. I gawped as I stared. This was nothing like Iv'e ever seen. Owls were flying around with cats chasing them , Papers were flying around and everywhere I looked there were big trolleys full of school items. "I want a pet first!" I burst out to my Uncle. A smile appeared on his face as he dragged me to the pet shop. 15 minutes later I came out with a Black Cat named Twyla. She was so pretty! She had one blue and one green eye yet they both suited her perfectly. She was unique! We found her at the back of the store , about to be moved to a normal pet store and I raced up to the person Carrying her and said if I could look at her. She turned to see me and our eyes made contact for a few seconds until she started meowing like crazy. The owner put the cage down let her out. She automatically ran up to me and started purring at my feet. Thats how I knew she was MEANT to be my cat. Anyway , after we left the pet store my uncle took me to the clothing shop to get my robes and shoes. It wasn't that eventful so not much to write about there. We eventually gathered everything on my list apart from the most IMPORTANT thing of all , My wand! I squealed with excitement as we came outside Ollivanders.

I asked my Uncle if he was to come in with me but he said no , this was something i was going to have to do by-myself. I took a deep breath and walked into the shop. The walls were crowded with wands falling on top of each-other. An elderly , but fit , man stood fixing a light that must have busted. I cleared my throat and said excuse me. He turned around and I saw that this was in fact the real Ollivander. His first words to me were 'hello my dear child , here to get your first wand are we?' I already liked this man and I just met him. My reply was a simple yes.He studied me carefully and murmured something under his breath. He went off into the halls of wands and emerged with a case in his hands. 'Try this one' He placed the case on the counter in front of him and I edged my way forwards. I carefully lifted the top layer of the case of and inside was a wand made of Cherry I think. I studied the wand carefully before I picked it up. 'Do I flick it?' I asked him. He nodded and I raised the wand and pointed it at a light. I did a gentle flick with my wrist and the light started flashing. I ducked and the light exploded. 'Ok maybe not' I gave him back the wand and he placed it back in his section of the room. He came back with another a minute later and ,again, placed it on the counter infront of me. This time it held a Ash wand. I handled it carefully as I flicked it at a bookcase. The books went flying everywhere. He took back the wand and put it back where it came from. It took about 5 minutes for him to return. He placed this wand with extra care on the counter and nodded at me to tell me to try it. It was a Elm wand , I could tell by the colour of it. I slowly raised this one and felt a warm breeze come over me as the papers went flying all round the room. The bell by the door rang , letting in a girl who looked like she was getting her first wand too. She stared at me in awe while I was staring at my wand the same way. 'Interesting' I heard him mutter. he took back the wand and instead of putting it with the others , he wrapped it in brown tissue paper and cautiously put it in the case. His words to me were 'be careful with this one dear , it is powerful only to the right possessor.' I nodded and put it in my bag I had with me. I looked out the window to see 3 or 4 children staring at me. I shyed away as I exited and was suddenly crowded by them. All I got was question after question until my Uncle came to save me. Thankfully Twyla was following me. That is when I raced to Kings Cross station and got myself into a compartment with the girl who was looking at me earlier in Ollivanders

That is where I leave off until next time ,

Bye - Tierney
