Chapter 6
The bell rang just as Holly slid into her seat in homeroom. Miss Burne peered at her through her moon-like spectacles. "So Miss Jones has finally decide to join us?" Holly's eyes flared up. "I wasn't late. Minutes late is what I call late. And not when you come in when the bell rings. That's not late." Miss Burne glares at her. "Yes it does count, young lady. Has anyone taught you any manners lately?" Holly glares back through narrowed eyes.
"It doesn't count! Even Principal Lake said that herself on the first day of school! And I have perfectly good manners! It's you who needs to start treating teens like us nicely. I hope you agree. If you hate kids so much, why even get a job at a school of all places?!" Miss Burne narrows her eyes.
"Detention, Miss Jones! I expect you to show up after school today! And if you don't, I will be speaking to the Principal about this. I'm sure she'll agree with a teacher!" "And I'M sure she'll agree with a student as well. A fair principal sees both sides of two people's story! And be sure to know that I won't be showing up after school!"
With that, Holly grabbed her bag and stormed out of the room. Her classmates/people stared at her in awe as she left. One of the boys even whooped. As she went out, Holly hid a twinge of sastifaction in telling the teacher off.
She went to her locker. When she spun the lock and flung open her locker door, she saw a red velvet box lying on the floor of her locker. She opened it and was surprised to see a thin sliver necklace with a small red ruby heart dangling on the bottom.
"Do you like it?" A voice ask from behind her. Holly twirled around and saw Chase standing there, smiling at her. Holly smiled back. "You put it here?" "Yes." "I'm astonished. It's beautiful" Chase took the necklace nimbly and gesture for Holly to turn around. He place the necklace around her neck gently and did the clasp tightly. Holly turns back to him and smiled softly. "I love it. Thank you so much." She leans up and kissed him softly on the lips. Chase kiss her back and pulled Holly closer to him. Holly wrapped her arms around Chase and deepened the kiss. Chase puts his arms around her waist. They stood there.
