Chapter 7
Malfoy and Potter were on the brooms.
Everyone was staring at them, gaping. I then saw Malfoy holding something. It was a little red glass thing.
Then somebody shouted, "Harry! Come down! Really, you're going to get expelled! You heard what Madam Hooch said!" It was the Granger girl saying that.
But Potter ignored her, and said to Malfoy, "Give it here, Malfoy."
"Okay, have it your way then," said Malfoy, and threw the ball into the air.
Harry was frozen for a minute, then he zoomed after the ball. It nearly hit a window, but Harry caught it just in time.
Everyone cheered, so did I. Then somebody came running towards us. Malfoy flew down to the ground quickly.
"Potter," said a voice. "Come down here. Quickly!" It was Professor McGonagall.
Harry flew down to the ground, looking slightly nervous.
"Come with me, now!" McGonagall said. "And you other students - you stay here till Madam Hooch comes." And she led Harry away.
Madam Hooch came shortly. "Where's Potter?" she asked.
A grubby looking boy explained quickly.
"Really?" she said. "Well, that boy will be lucky if he isn't expelled," she said. "Well, you can all go now."
I chatted with Maggie, and Felix came over to us to talk too. But he wasn't there long. Lunch came and he had to go.
Then after lunch it was the usual classes. We had just done Transfiguration, and now I dragged my feet to Charms.
Dinner finally came, and after that, I walked tiredly down past the kitchens to the Hufflepuff common room, and wasn't taking in anything that Maggie was saying.
I tapped the barral, and the lid of it opened. I climbed through it, and Maggie seated herself on one of the armchairs.
I did the same. I and Maggie were going to do the homework Snape had given us.
We were there for about an hour, and I finally finished my essay. It was eleven thirty by now.
"Come on, let's get into bed," I said.
Maggie nodded, and we went up the stairs to our girls dormitory.
I slipped into my bed, and Maggie turned off the lamp.
I lay there for a few minutes, and then heard someone running by. Not just one person, but a lot of people, like four.
I strained my ears, and heard the running of footsteps again.
"No, I think this is the wrong way," said someone. It vaguely reminded me of someone.
"Oh, well, I think it's this way, then." There were more running. The sound of footsteps was fading away, away. . . .
I scrambled out of bed, ran down the short steps, and opened the lid of the barrel. There! There was some students, running quietly away.
I followed them.
