Chapter 1: Anything But Ordinary

Chapter 1

Hi you guys! I'm Dania and I'm writing this fanfic (obviously) and I've never actually written one before... But there are first times for everything right? Anyway this is a PJO/HP crossover fanfiction and I hope you enjoy this first chapter! Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(Juliet's POV)
It started off as any other day- my mother getting overrun by the paparazzi, my sister and I fighting off monsters that want to make us into monster chow, my father not even bothering to contact us. You know, the usual.
Perhaps I need to introduce myself. My name is Juliet AnnChristie. You most likely know my mother - Amber AnnChristie, the international actress who has traveled three quarters of the world. But not much is heard about my sister, Christina, and I. We live with my mother in Manhattan, New York, and all we knew about my father when we were younger was that he had to leave us, because his brothers and sisters were angry with him. But he was the best thing that happened to Mom, and we were determined to find out who he was. We didn't know there were consequences. We didn't know that we were wanted dead by uglies of all sorts. And we definitely didn't know that we were demigods.
Uh huh. Yup. That actually really made our day. (Insert sarcasm there.) My mother explained to us who - and what - my father was. A Greek god, a person that actually only made sense in our history books at school. However, it did make some sense on why we both had dyslexia (Christina and I both failed English, Reading, and Math in all three semesters of school. The fact that we actually tried incredibly hard and had a big red F staring us in the face three times scared us the most that day.) and ADHD. (We accidentally blew up one of the school buses on a field trip to the museum when a grenade was lit and, in a panic, Christina threw it. Let's say Mom was not pleased with us.)
Our father was Poseidon. God of the sea.
And on that particular day, we had been fighting off monsters so that we could live at least another day - just one more day -  to see our eleventh birthday. Which was tomorrow. And we never really did anything special- we just stayed home with Mom and watched movies and ate cake and opened presents; all that regular jazz.
After the monsters were destroyed and we had scattered the dust so that they couldn't reform(we knew this probably had no effect, but hey, we were ten, and we wanted to live. So we just did what we could to stay alive. And that's that.) we went back inside our house and thundered up the stairs to our room. Mom wasn't home, which meant she left us with the servants. "Juliet, get me my shirt," my sister ordered. Christina, by the way, is so much prettier than I am. She and I have the same dirty blonde hair, but hers is shorter than mine and her eyes are bluer. She's got everything- the figure, the brains(though she does have her idiotic moments) the looks. Though she insists that I've got all this, I disagree.
 "Go get it your fan-freaking self. I'm not your maid, you know. And there is a reason you do have legs." "But I'm tired," Christina whined. "So am I but you don't hear me whining like a three year old," I snapped as I changed. Christina reluctantly got up from her bed and walked over to her dresser, grumbling and shooting me glares as she snatched her tee from the drawer, and sulked back. I smiled sweetly, waving, wiggling my fingers as I walked out of the room, laughing. "Darlings!" A voice called out. "Juliet, Christina! Where are you? Come downstairs, please!" "Mom!" Christina and I yelled, and ran down the stairs into the living room, laughing. We both jumped into our mother's arms, and she shook with laughter as we hugged her tighter. "I have a surprise for you both," Mom smiled, showing her almost-blinding-but-not-really white teeth. Our mother is the prettiest woman in the world. Her eyes are greener than grass and her dirty blonde hair flows gracefully down her back. She's got everything you need in an actress- the looks, the talent, the stage experience- everything.
"Oooh! What is it, Mom? What is it?" Christina and I jumped up and down like we were high on sugar. Mom laughed, the sound clean and pure. She pulled a box out of her bag. "Surprise! French chocolates from the best chocolate shop in Paris!" My eyes widened and my mouth watered. Christina and I looked at each other, then back at the box, then at each other again.
And then we grabbed it and ran down the hallway, whooping as we shot into the kitchen like bullets. I could hear my mother laughing as she kicked off her heels and ran after us.
So far, life was good.
Christina's POV
"CHRISTINA! WAKE UP, WAKE UP!" My eyes snapped open to Juliet bouncing on me like I was some sort of sofa. "GERROFF ME!" I shrieked. "MO-OM! IT'S OUR ELEVENTH BIRTHDAY AND ALREADY JULIET'S BOTHERING ME!" "But, Chrissie," Juliet whined, "it's our birthday! I had to give you some sort of wake-up call, didn't I?" "Yeah, okay, sure, but let's make one thing clear: I'M NOT A SOFA!" Juliet rolled her crystal eyes. "Yeah, whatever. But happy birthday!" I sighed. "Happy Birthday, Jules." Juliet pounded down across the hall, and I already knew she was looking for Mom. I swear, on holidays she's more hyper and enthusiastic than Aphrodite is about clothes. And hair. And makeup. And true love.
I smiled. I shot out of bed to join Juliet in the kitchen, where Mom stood with open arms. "Happy birthday, darlings! Now, I have something to tell you, and show you, so if this comes as a shock - which I'm sure it will - just tell me, okay?" Juliet and I looked at each other strangely. I shrugged. Whatever. We're not ordinary people, right? We can take it. "Okay, Mom. Now, all seriousness aside, how about that breakfast?" I grinned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was in the evening when we received it.

There we were, talking and laughing, when an owl came in through the open window, carrying two envelopes. "Mom," Juliet asked worriedly, "what is a owl doing here? Did we do something?" Mom smiled, and shook her head as she took the two letters from the owl's beak. "No. These are for you two." She nodded, and the owl flew back into the pink and orange sky. "For us?" I asked. "Yes. Darlings, this is what I meant to tell you." She took a breath. " I am not a normal person. I'm not a regular mortal like you think I am." My eyes widened. "W-what?" Juliet stuttered. "You see, the AnnChristie family has been, well, pure-blooded for centuries, and it still is, but here's the thing. I know you're confused, and frightened most of all. I'm telling you, I'm not a monster, I'm still your mother, but..." Mom's green eyes looked to us. "I'm a witch. And so are you."

It was quiet. After a few moments, I laughed. "Hahahaa, nice joke Mom. That was funny, what did you really want to say?" Mom looked at me sternly. "I am not a liar, Christina. I have never lied to you, not once." "But, Mom, I know I'm going to be sorry when I say this, but I'm going to need some proof." I told her. "Alright, if you insist." She pulled out a stick, which I assumed was her wand, and she chanted, "Expecto Patronum!" A blue horse shot out of her wand and galloped across the room, and after a few moments, pranced through the wall and out of sight. "B-but...." Juliet started.

Mom just smiled, and handed us our envelopes.

To Miss Christina AnnChristie

First Bedroom on The Left

I looked up, gaping. Mom just smiled and nodded.

And slowly, I opened the envelope.
