DADA-OWL Lessons

The clock strikes the hour and the doors to the Great Hall open. Standing in the doorway is Professor Penrose and an unfamiliar witch.

“Students, if you will please enter and take your seats, Professor Penrose and I will start your examinations!” The witch says. All of the Fifth Year Defense Against the Dark Arts students file into the Great Hall. The four long tables that they have become familiar with are gone, replaced with many rows of individual chairs and desks. Once all of the students have found a seat, the unknown witch stands at the front and addresses the students.

“I am Madam Nimue Graves. In a few moments, I will distribute your O.W.L. Theoretical examination. You will have three hours to answer all of the questions to the best of your ability. Professor Penrose and I will both be monitoring you throughout your examination. There is to be no talking in the testing hall once the exams have been distributed. You are not to move from your seat until all examinations have been collected. Your desk, the quill and ink provided, and your parchment have all been enchanted with an Anti-Cheating Spell in order to ensure that the grade you receive is truly your own. Professor Penrose, do you have anything to add?”

Professor Penrose stands. “I hope you have all adequately prepared. For the past five years, you all have sat in my class. Therefore, I expect you all to do well; if you don’t, you will not be permitted to continue on to my N.E.W.T. level courses. For those of you who aspire to be aurors or curse-breakers, this exam is one of the most important tests you will take. Best of luck to you all.”

Madam Graves nods her head and flicks her wand. A stack of parchment near her flies off the table and one stack lands in front of each student.

“You may now begin!”
