Backstory

Growing up as a half-blood in American I'd always assumed I would be sent to Ilvermorny but when I was 11 my Auror Dad, along with my mom, my sister, and me, were deployed to an American Auror Base in Germany. Moving caused me to receive a letter to Hogwarts, a huge surprise to my Dad's side who hadn't had a child go to Hogwarts in many generations. I was, of course, ecstatic and couldn't help but read everything there was about Hogwarts and Wizarding England. Before I had only known a little bit about the two wizard wars that originated in England but as I learned more and more I had become even more interested in Wizarding England and its history.
Excitement grew when the other young wizard and witches on the same Auror base grouped up for the yearly trip to Diagon Alley to buy school supplies. My parents and sister came with the group and made a day of it, visiting Muggle London and exploring Diagon Alley, coming back home the next day on the return portkey. With all my supplies and my new tawny owl, Bilbo, I was ready for my first year.
Finally on September 1st at Hogwarts the House Sorting began, I waited impatiently as each student got sorted, finally it was my turn. It took more than the average time for the hat to finally shout the house I would be in, Hufflepuff! A snake in badgers skin I would be, something I would use to my advantage for the next 7 years.
And those 7 years flew by! I've never been a very good student, especially when it came to essays but to my surprise I passed all my classes! And while Charms and D.A.D.A. will never be my best subjects, Herbology, Potions, and Transfiguration I all passed with Outstandings on my N.E.W.T.S.
During the last few years at Hogwarts I had started to help Madame Pomfrey in the hospital wing, enough that the woman asked if I wanted to apprentice under her. It took a while for me to figure out if thats really what I wanted to do, until a friend of mine sat me down to talk through it.
Three years have passed since then and I now find myself one year in as a Trainee Healer at St. Mungo's after two years of apprenticeship under Madame Pomfrey. Only one more year before i become a full fledged Healer.
