Backstory

Being born in a Pagan family, I was already accustomed to magic - just not Wizard's magic. My father is a Pure-Blood, but he swore off Wizard's magic when he met and married my mother. Apparently it caused too much chaos in their relationship, so he stuck with her Muggle magicks instead. That means that I unfortunately had no real introduction into magic besides Hogwarts, and let me tell you... Hogwarts is a horrible introduction into magic! Everything wants you dead in this school - even the bloody staircases! And even if you manage to survive the castle itself, you'll probably die to some deranged potion Snape hands out, or a misfired Charm from Flitwick, or a shoddy Transfiguration that turns you into half man half pig. There's also the case of most magic being entirely banned! Why even have a magic school when you won't teach magic, just because "Boo Hoo Dark Magic." Magic is neutral! Only the intent matters! Any spell can be good or bad! I mean, the Aurors use the Avada Kedavra every day to stop serial killers, right? That's a valuable skill in their line of work! Why not teach it responsibly early so that people can better themselves later in life?

I just don't get it here. This is nothing like the magicks I grew up with. Sure, it's mystical, and it is fascinating to learn about, but there's so much wrong here! So many students feeling left out because they want to learn but are told they can't... It's just not right. But I guess that's just school as an entity, I suppose. Even Muggle schools refuse to teach basic economics, so perhaps Muggles and Wizards aren't so different after all.
