(Older Student) The start of my 5th year, it feels so surreal if i'm being honest. It seems like just yesterday that i was sitting waiting fo the Sorting hat to make a choice, it took all of a second to say Hufflepuff. It is a family thing though so i wasn't at all surprised.
At 16 Im starting to figure out what i want to do with my life after i'm done with school. I am starting to become more refined and the spells are starting to become harder to master. I have friends though to help and so far there hasn't been a spell that was too difficult to master after working at it. The healing spells are the easiest for me though as that is what my mother and grandmother have done their whole lives. I already know most of the spells for healing before they are taught, so others come to me for healing and help with their school work on the subject.
I am lucky, i was born a Pureblood. many of my friends are muggle born and they are the ones that come to me most often for healing rather than school help. Many of them didn't know they were wizards or witches until just before they got their hogwarts letters. i can't imagine not having grown up with the wonderful things i have at home. Especially Lillian my sand cat. Her and I have grown up together exploring our coastal home and getting into trouble together. She is my companion at Hogwarts and my most trusted friend.
Lillian and I are starting to miss home and my mom especially. Right now she would be making a cake or some cookies and letting Lilly and I lick the spoon. We miss the warm sand dunes and the smell of the ocean air. Our cousins and aunts coming over and spending the day. Swimming in the ocean under the protection of the mermaids.
Our family is scattered up and down the coast living off the land and the sea, as we have for generations. .My mother, grandmother, and I live in our ancestral home the house that the first member of our family built with her husband many many eons ago. We used to war with the mermaids having a motto that "We own the land and the mermaids own the sea". It worked for many years until my great great grandmother almost died..
Now the mermaids protect us from any and all sea dangers, in return we give them healing for any and all injuries. Adopting a new motto "Land and Sea living in harmony". My great-great grandmother is the reason we have a new motto and this treaty with the mermaids. She fell into the ocean and a mermaid,in a moment of kindness, saved her. Then a year later the same mermaid came to my grandmother with life threatening injuries. my grandmother healed her no questions asked. It built from there more and more mermaids began coming to her with their ails and she would heal them. Now our children play with their children and we are safe from all sea dangers.
After Lilly and I are done with school we will probably return home. We will inherit the ancestral home ,as I am the only child of my mother, and continue the work that our family has done forever. We are healers known throughout the region as the best at what we do. Many people travel from far away to study under my mother, i will take over that task after i become a master healer.
