Backstory
I come from a pureblood family. My father was gravely disappointed when I was sorted into Gryffindor; I destroyed his dreams of continuing the Slytherin family tradition, along with my sister, who was sorted into Hufflepuff. I really enjoy learning, much like my mother, so she was convinced I'd be in Ravenclaw. I was almost a hatstall because the Sorting Hat was torn between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor, but eventually it decided I'd do well in Gryffindor. Most of my childhood was spent reading about Hogwarts longingly. I even used to read my sister's textbooks the year before I arrived at Hogwarts in order to familiarise myself with the core subjects. My father often worked overtime at the Ministry of Magic, and my mother lives in a daydream most of the time, so when I wasn't reading or exploring the forest in the next neighbourhood, I used to hang around with a Muggle boy called James. When I met him, I asked him why he wasn't in school, and he said he was home-schooled, so I used this line in reply to other inquisitive Muggles when I was asked why I wasn't at school. James was very funny, I even visited his house once (without the permission of my parents) and his mother was using a strange machine to clean the carpet; it was rather loud. James made me laugh because he really enjoyed kicking a spotty black and white ball around, making some sort of goal with our jumpers.
