Backstory

Almost immediately as I step down to the stool, ask the hat whether it has a tongue - is Sorty bellowing out a definite Ravenclaw in my ear. Despite me thinking that Sorty was a cool guy, that was a rude move dude. The names pass and soon the feast begins, and I notice the Ravenclaw table is actually one of the most active. Constant talking and discussing, a petition for a girl in 6th year to get more artistic classes added is going down the table - and a fierce debate at the end of the line about Squib rights and heritage. It got me thinking about my own muggle-raised Half-blood status - with a pureblood mother and a squib father, and what it is that my goals are in this new future I have. I listen around in a few more debates, and its clear that the magical world is at a standstill with itself, with unprogressive ideals as the older men in power refuse to, well - die (sorry!). Its in that moment I knew I would dedicate myself to changing this world into a more progressive society - and if I'm aiming too high then at least its another step in the right direction. I wonder if the sorting hat had sorted me just 20 minutes after he did, whether he would consider Slytherin as my house just for the pure ambition that soared in my heart at that very moment. My magic is an undiscovered forest inside my chest, one that I'm willing to spend the next 7 years of my life to map out every mountain and tree.
