Backstory
I am Professor McGonagall's niece, Isobel McGonagall, named after Grandmother McGonagall. I look much like her aunt, Minerva McGonagall, at that age, average height and weight, dark eyes, a full head of silver hair with many black highlights just a little past my shoulders when not pulled up into a bun, often dressed in jeans and a t-shirt under my robe, and I wear square framed glasses when doing school work- though mostly just to make me look smarter. I am Scottish, born here in the Highlands of Scotland, but now live in London. The wizard Robert McGonagall Jr., my father, is Professor McGonagall's much younger baby brother. He's very much like Aunt Minerva, brilliant, brave, a private person pouring all his energies into his work, except he followed their muggle father's footsteps and became a reverend, taking over at my grandfather's last church and holding tight to his family's secret. My mother is a very smart witch, too, but I'm embarrassed to report that she left my father and flew away to the dark side several years ago with Servious Snape. But, all witches and wizards have a skeleton or two in their closets. Maybe that's why I didn't get sorted into the Gryffindore House, like my father; but at least I didn't get sorted into the Slytherin House, like my mother. I wonder if that is why the sorting hat spent five minutes whispering Gryffindore and Slytherin and then calling aloud Ravenclaw. Aunt Minerva had a similar experience as a first year, except after halting 5-1/2 minutes, the sorting hat chose between Ravenclaw and Gryffindore in her case. I've always been close to my Aunt Minerva, including trying to be like her. I've even stayed at Hogwarts for days at a time, many times visiting my aunt, and I've even gotten to sit in on classes and practice a little magic while there that most underaged witches and wizards don't get to do before becoming a student. I received many academic awards in primary school, though muggle school wasn't very challenging. I looked forward to the day when I was finally old enough to join my Aunt Minerva as a student here at Hogwarts in hopes that I will be Headmistress here someday. My next door neighbor and best friend is Harry and Ginny Potter's daughter, Lily, whom is a year younger than me. Albus Potter, one of Lilly's big brothers and his friend, my cousin, Scorpius, play tricks on us sometimes when we're together. They think they are so cool just because they're a year ahead of me and Slytherin. Lucky for my mom, she was given up for adoption as the family only wanted boys and as it happened, my Uncle Draco was raised as an only child. And, I'm crushing on three-year older James Potter, but he just treats me like another kid sister. Their parents treat me like family; after all, I've lived next door to them since I was born. I'm really close to them, so close that I grew up calling them Uncle Harry and Aunt Ginny. My mom became best friends Hermione Weasley right out of Hogwarts, when she was still Hermione Granger and my mom was still Delphinus Malfoy, though they didn't know each other well in school. My dad was on the Gryffindore Quidditch team with Ron Weasley and Harry Potter, however, while at Hogwarts. In fact, except for my mother, they are all still close friends. Like the Potters, I call the Weasleys Uncle Ron and Aunt Hermione and play with their kids, Rose and Hugo, too. My mom and dad met running with the four of them back in the day. Aunt Hermione, whom I'm proud to be very much alike, says, looking back, she can see a bit of a dark side to my mom that she didn't think much about at the time they were rowdy young adults. There's a tale that Albus Dumbledore is distantly related on my mother's side, but most wizardly families are related if you trace them back through the centuries. Like my father and mother, I'm an Animagus- I can already transform into a shih-poo at will, though at such a unique young age it take a great deal of my energy out of me to do and I'm too young, anyway, to win that status at Hogwarts and have the school recognize my rare shape-shifting natural ability or to register with the Ministry of Magic. Who knows, if I could go ahead and register, maybe I’d be the youngest Animagus registered with the Ministry of Magic. Maybe I shouldn't register because I'm scared I'll turn to the dark side someday, like my mother, since it is also in my blood and I've shown a few talents in the dark arts already; but Uncle Harry says turning to the dark side is a choice, not my destiny . . .
