Backstory
Due to being muggleborn, I thought my Hogwarts letter was some sort of advertisement for a new theme park. Although that didn't really explain how the address knew I was in the living room when it was plopped into my lap by an owl that had somehow gotten into the house. I threw it into the recycling bin and thought that was that. Until a minute later when another letter arrived. This was when my parents and I decided to take it a bit more seriously, It even said that a Professor at the school was going to come and visit us to explain what was going on! That Professor was McGonagall, and she was actually very nice to me when she came over to our house so I was very surprised to see how strict she was when at the school. We were told about how to get into Diagon Alley and how to get onto the right platform, my parents looked slightly overwhelmed and my older sister was in the corner looking upset but I was over the moon! I couldn't help but feel sympathy for my sister, though. I knew she wanted to be a witch too.Since my family lives in Devon, we had to plan the entire trip up to London. We stayed near the end of the holidays so I could get my things from Diagon Alley and then spend a week sightseeing in the city before I set off to Hogwarts. My wand that I got from Olivander's is 14 and a half inches, Larch wood with a unicorn hair core. I didn't even know unicorns really existed so that was probably the most amazing thing to me back then, that I had a part of a unicorn in my wand! It also has vine like engravings that I adore, especially since I was expecting just a plain piece of wood! I now know that wands are much more than that.
I met some other students on the Hogwarts express, a few of them were muggleborns like me, so we ended up chatting for ages about our experiences and how we reacted to learning we were witches/wizards. There was one half-blood in our compartment who we hounded with questions about the wizarding world. They seemed happy with all of the attention.
The next thing I knew, I was on the sorting stool with the sorting hat on my head. He told me that it was an easy choice, but he had certain leanings towards Slytherin at times when thinking it over, but then decided that I was undeniably a Hufflepuff. And now I wouldn't have it any other way!
