Backstory

Headmistress Orion Oshiro was born on February 21, 1949 in Hakodate on the Japanese island of Hokkaido. Her mother was a British witch who moved to Japan at the end of World War II to study magical fauna native to Hokkaido on behalf of the Ministry. There she met and married a Japanese muggle man, and in 1949 Orion was born was born. Although Oshiro began her education at Mahoutokoro, when she was in her fourth year, her family moved to England for her mother’s research. Upon arrival to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, she was sorted into Ravenclaw.

Oshiro quickly discovered she held a talent in Seeing, and used her time at Hogwarts to develop the skill, although she did not take the traditional path of a Seer. Instead, her focus was the psychological impacts of fortune-telling, and how it impacts society and communities as a whole. While conducting her research, Oshiro returned briefly to Mahoutokoro to act as Divination professor. She eventually moved to France, however, where she taught at Beauxbatons.

While attending a neurology and psychology conference in early 2015, she met former Deputy Headmistress Lucrezia Batyaeva of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Upon their meeting, Oshiro had a premonition of Headmaster Rubedo’s departure from the school. Although another candidate was being considered for the position, once that candidate turned down the position, former Deputy Head Batyaeva remembered her meeting with the half-Japanese witch and reached out to her to invite her to apply for a position as Headmistress.

Headmistress Oshiro likes dragons, gardening, and winter. She is also a fan of older rock music, and has a soft spot for old British punk music.
