Amara's family is descended from a line of French wizards known as the Moreaus on her father's side. But after the gradual intermingling with muggles, magic was all but forgotten, though the muggle Moreaus kept collection of their ties to the Wizarding world. It wasn't until Amara got a notice from Beauxbatons Academy of Magic that the Moreaus magic lineage was realized once more. However, Amara only spent three years at Beauxbatons before she "sorely dismissed" herself after an incident involving clumsy charms, the headmistress, and a boy.

Now, in order to preserve the sophistication of Moreau magic, Amara attends Hogwarts where she's under strict watch and regard. Many speculate over what could have possibly gone wrong at Beauxbatons, but so far, no one at Hogwarts is exactly sure of what happened.
