Growing up in a loving home RJ had always felt loved and happy until one day when she was 6 and her life changed forever. Her mum had died in a freak accident whilst climbing a ladder to trim a hedge in the garden. Her dad spiralled into a pit of depression and began to drink. He drank to cover his guilt as he had meant to trim the hedge but kept forgetting until finally his wife had done it herself with drastic consequences.

After this RJ's homelife became less comfortable. Her fathers guilt about his wife meant he wanted to protect his daughter so he withdrew her from school as he couldn't bear her to be out of his sight for so long. He also banned her from leaving the house, eating anything other than baby food (for fear of choking), talking to anyone ever or from playing anything he considered remotely dangerous. If she broke any of these rules he beat her with a long wooden stick from.the hedge her mother had been trimming when she died.
This led to five years of isolation which have left RJ very nervous around people and very fearful of punishment.
Due to her fathers restrictions RJ spent most of her time reading as this seemed to be the only activity he didn't mind her doing.

Being at Hogwarts has been difficult for RJ. There are so many people and it's so loud but she has enjoyed her lessons and adored the library.
