Backstory (sorry- I started writing and couldn't stop) There was once a girl born into a normal life with lawyers for parents, two brothers, and little country side house with mountains to hike, trees to climb, and even a lake to swim in. This was the girl's kingdom- she'd climb to the top of a fir tree to count the baby robins to make sure none had fallen from the nest or go down to the lake and watch the silver fish swim and sparkle in the sun. Then she would find a nice quiet spot and read, because despite the things the girl could learn from the mountains, the books had a million pages of knowledge to share. This is what the little girl was doing on one fateful day, reading in a clearing much further into the woods than she had ever been, with her long black hair braided and her large grey eyes scanning the paper. When suddenly, she heard two people shouting and large blasts in the thick growth. The girl got up and ran to see what was the matter, but when she arrived there was only one old man and he was on the ground, with his leg pointed a funny way and a broken stick casting sparks a few feet away. "Mister, are you okay?" said the girl running up to the man. The man looked at her, shocked, "What the-" he stopped to wince in pain, " Um, yes, I am, I just... fell" the man finished, breathing hard. "I can go get help" offered the girl, ready to run home to tell her parents. "No, no, that's fine" said the man, starting to wheeze, "I'm going to be fine, whats your name?". "Sterling" replied the girl. "Pretty name" said the man, "I'm Castor" he coughed and his spit was red, "Listen I'm going to be fine, I promise, so you can just-" The man's eyes rolled back and his wheezing stopped. The young girl ran all the way home crying for her mama, then dragged her entire family to the spot where Castor had been- but nothing was there. The girl cried for Castor for three nights. After that day, while the girl went out and explored, she never dared venture so far out again.
Three years later Sterling, now a studious eleven year old, recieved a letter of admittance to a school named Hogwarts, and embarked on her biggest adventure yet. This new world amazed her, she gazed in wonder at people on flying broomsticks and pictures that moved on their own accord. But when she went to get a wand, she couldn't help but feel a twinge of deja vu, she wondered what the wand would look like if it were broken, but decided not to test it. Then came the hogwarts express, and the boats, and the sorting hat. When it was Sterling's turn to be sorted, she sat under the weight of the huge hat as it talked to her for almost two minutes before shouting, "Ravenclaw".
