Backstory
As an Irish American half-blood attending Hogwarts, life was never dull. Dodging snotty bigoted purebloods, getting good grades, and playing quidditch in my spare time could be very draining at times, though my hobby was always enough to calm me down after a particularly trying day. It wasn't until my fifth year that any particular notice was payed to my favorite way to unwind. A dorm mate happened to walk in on me sitting on my bed after classes one day, and decided she wanted to see what I was doing- evidently I was making funny faces. She walked over and saw my sketch book with all my art supplies scattered around it and me, and on the page, in "stunning, almost magical" detail, was the Black Lake. She immediately begged to see my other works, and I begrudgingly handed her a few of my older sketch books with strict instructions not to let them out of her sight, or to ruin them. She quickly agreed and say on her bed, becoming thoroughly engrossed in my old sketch books. After a while her presence slipped my mind, and I went back to work on my landscape of the Black Lake.Later, I was startled out of my almost trance like state when my dorm mate moved some of my supplies out of the way and sat down in front of me with a serious look on her face. She then told me that if I didn't sell my work professionally after we graduated, that she'd steal my sketch books and sell my art for me, without any of the credit going to me as I'd never really taken to signing my sketches. The next day, an owl from the book store landed in front of me with a package I just knew had to have come from my dorm mate.
By the end of the year, I'd decided to give it a shot. I learned the charms and potions needed to animate my sketches and drawings, I learned how to start and manage a business, and I learned that art is a language all it's own. And I learned that I loved it, every single bit of it.
By the time seventh year came along, I already had a small clientele gathered, and I now have enough earnings from inter-House dealings that I'll be able to buy myself a two room apartment in Ireland that I've got my eye on. And once I graduate, I'll be able to follow my recently discovered dream.
