Backstory
My story starts with my wand. As I woke upon my eleventh birthday, I was truly excited about getting my Hogwarts letter. I had received the letter that afternoon and read all the required items that I would be needing to purchase. As I came from a half-blood family, my dad was not sure where I was supposed to get these items; however, my mom knew that Diagon Alley was the place to go for all my wizarding ware needs. I got myself dressed after I ate a filling breakfast of eggs, sausage, hash browns, and toast. When we arrived at the entrance, my mom showed me the way to get into Diagon Alley from the Leaky Cauldron through the brick wall. I always thought that the Leaky Cauldron was just a run-down store that no one wanted. It was exciting to see all the people and other kids inside Diagon Alley getting all their supplies ready for school.Going through the list, I eventually came upon the need for a wand and my mom had said that I needed to go to Ollivander’s wand shop. Upon entering, I was surprised at all the wands lining the walls. I went up to the counter, where Mr. Ollivander was waiting and introduced himself. He seemed scary at first, but was truly pleasant. First, I tried a wand that had a phoenix feather core and elm wood, but it was not for me. Then, I tried an acacia wood wand with a dragon heartstring core. It also did not work for me. Eventually, Mr. Ollivander found the wand described above that resonated positive energy and white light when it connected to my hand. It was meant to be.
He asked me to wave the wand just to be sure; then, told me that laurel wood would be very loyal to me and also that each wand in here was meant for unique witches and wizards like myself. I felt truly special when I received my wand and exited the shop. I showed my mom the wand that got and she began sharing with me that her wand had a unicorn hair core as well. We walked through Diagon Alley together, purchased the other items on my list, and left Diagon Alley with an excitement to use my wand at Hogwarts. It may not be the most exciting story, but it is a story I will never forget.
