Backstory
(Older Student): Hey, my name is James, but to my close friends, I'm called Jem. I come from a long line of Gryffindors who also happen to be Purebloods. I myself, however, was sorted into Slytherin; talk about a disappointment (To them, I rather like my placement). It took the Hat forever to figure it out, but I think it was just messing with me. My best classes are History of Magic, Magical Theory, Ancient Studies, and Study of Ancient Runes. I'm also fond of Potions and Apparition, though I'm not as skilled in the former. The people in Slytherin seem to really value blood. Being Korean born in Scottland I'd like to think I know a bit about how blood doesn't really matter. For example, my best Friend Michael is a muggle-borne and a Hufflepuff. I believe my greatest strength is my will to do things, though this sometimes leads to stubbornness in the face of danger. It gets me into a lot of trouble from time to time. Once I graduate I've thought about becoming an Unspeakable, their jobs seem both dangerous and alluring at the same time. I'd never get bored, but if that doesn't work out I have it as a backup to re-write the History of Magic. It just seems like it's lacking something. I believe the fascinating thing about magic is its spontaneity in how it reflects emotion. For example, making it snow, rain, or blow something up depending on the extreme of the mood. I like to align myself on the spectrum of Lawful/Evil: something along the lines of "Citizen, I am here to protect you. Resistance is futile!" Oh! I almost forgot. I have a pet Raven named Ben, he's a trouble maker. He always tries to collect the shiniest things around the school. One time he even took a hairpin out of the Potions Professor's hair, that was funny. I don't know why he has such an obsession with shiny objects, he is an Animagus after all (but don't tell anyone that I think I'll get in trouble). I heard from somewhere that they weren't allowed at Hogwarts, but I think that was just a misunderstanding. There isn't anything really special about my family, at least not that I know of since my parents don't like to talk about it much. My Gran tells me sometimes that my family did something really terrible, so we've been exiled or something. My parents stopped taking me to see her after that. I guess if I want to find out more I'll just have to ask someone at Hogwarts who knew them.
