Backstory
Josh Hannigan was sorted into Slytherin. The hat made the decision based on his eagerness and his determination. It took some time before the decision was made. Josh would tell his friends, that the hat had thought about sorting him into Ravenclaw. He had been very excited when he got his Hogwarts letter and is looking forward to all the courses. Joshs father is the wizard Hamish Hannigan, a tall man with dark-brown hair and green eyes. Josh never met his mother. His father told him, that she was a mermaid and had to go back into the ocean, but Josh grew more and more suspicious of that fact. One day he will find his real mother, he always tells himself.Josh grew up in a small village in the Irish county of Wexford. He has no memories of You-Know-Who or his influence on the daily live. His first grade teacher, Mrs. Duncan, first observed Joshs eagerness to learn new things. His friends would describe that as his greatest strength. His greatest weakness would be his time-management skill. It is hard for him to concentrate on the most important thing, because he gets easily distracted by things he deems more interesting. At the moment, Joshs dream job would be becoming an explorer and writing his own books about magical things. His father has a big library at home where Josh spend a lot of time reading about the History of Magic and Magical Creatures. He is hoping to learn more about these aspects in Hogwarts.
Coming from an all-Slytherin family, Josh never thought about using magic to help others. But also not to hurt others. He just wants to expand his own horizon. As a present for his 11th birthday, his father gave him a ginger cat that Josh named Mrs. Tonks after the Slytherin Andromeda Tonks (mother of Nymphadora), for whom he has the greatest respect. It was never hard for Josh to find friends. New people he meets are usually fascinated by his love of the little things and his generally good mood. Josh never had a lot of contact to members of his family, other than his father. His mothers side, of course, was unknown to him. His grandmother, Fiona Hannigan, visited from time to time, but tragically died from an unknown disease when he was 9.
