Sonya Scamander

Backstory

I was born to a muggle family, and none of them knew anything about magic. When I got my letter, I was extremely excited. I asked my parents about it, and they admitted that they were trying to hide it from me. They told me my whole story: My grandfather is one of the most famous magizoologists in the world; Newton Scamander. My parents reluctantly agreed to take me to London to buy my school supplies, and everything there fascinated me. Those few days went by in a blur, but it eventually settled down again. I did as much research on Newton Scamander as I could, but my parents tried to restrict me as much as possible. I'm hoping against hope that someday I can be a magizoologist myself and that one day, I will be able to meet him.
One the scheduled date, my parents dropped me off at King's Cross Station. I was thrilled the first time I ran through that brick wall, it was my first mark in the wizarding world. When I got on the Hogwarts Express and went to Hogwarts, I was the very last first-year to be sorted. I expected to be sorted into Hufflepuff, but I ended up in Ravenclaw. And so begins my life at Hogwarts...
Although I do admit to being quite intelligent, I felt like sort of an outsider in Ravenclaw. I wanted to have more freedom than we were allowed. I was intrigued by the Forbidden Forest, and I longed to go out and see what was in there.
When I first went into the Forbidden Forest, I met a small clan of thestrals. We bonded quickly, and I became especially attached to one of the youngest ones named Anoka. When I got to know them more, I ventured into the woods almost every free chance I got. As well as the thestrals, I also met a family of bowtruckles. Like before, I became good friends with one named Lenora. She was kind of an outcast in her family, which reflected myself quite a bit.
The first person that ever caught me going into the Forbidden Forest was the new headmistress, Minerva McGonagall. Instead of punishing me, though, she took interest in my fascination of magical creatures. She told me that I would be able to take the Second Year Care of Magical Creatures class in my first year. She also said that I could continue going to the Forbidden Forest, as long as it doesn't interfere with my school work and that I don't tell anybody that she was allowing me to go.
That pretty much sums up the beginning of my time in the wizarding world. I am still planning on becoming a magizoologist to this day, and I'm hoping that it's not too far in the future.
