Backstory

My family has always travelled- my dad is a scientist in the muggle world and does fieldwork all over the planet, and no one in my immediate family likes settling down. Getting a letter for Hogwarts was a shock and a challenge, given how much we travel. Instead, I've ended up being mainly homeschooled, picking up random bits and pieces from the places I've visited. For instance, I visited China a while back and ended up being fascinated by the different dialects of runes used in different places. Now, though, I've finished non-magical school and am starting university, but I want to take the chance to catch up on the magical side of things. Because I've spent so much time in the muggle world, I'm quite interested in the overlap with the muggle world- I'm interested to see how many traditional folk tales actually got their information about magic right!
