Backstory
My name is Jang Ji-Woo, I was born into an old pureborn line of Korean wizards. Our family is descended from a crown prince who was executed before he was able to rule. It took almost two centuries for us to reascend into a place of power. Up until the annexation of Korea by Japan, we enjoyed a very privileged existence. Most of my recent ancestors were involved either in politics or second sons usually wound up working in law enforcement. When Japan annexed Korea, my great-great-great grandfather became a type of liaison between the Korean Ministers and the Imperial Japanese Ministers. He was intelligent enough to adapt to the situation to hang onto our wealth and social status. We have continued that tradition to this day with my father serving as an official liaison representing Korean interests in the Japanese Ministry of Magic as there are too few wizards in Korea to have a centralized ministry.
I spent my childhood in Japan and started attending Mahoutokoro School of Magic at the age of 7. I was unable to start living at Mahoutokoro, because my father was reassigned to represent the Japanese Ministry of Magic in the U.K. Father thought it was best if I started at Hogwarts at 11 as a first year like everyone else. I'm really jealous of my brother, Joon-Woo, who gets to stay at Mahoutokoro. I really miss the color changing robes. Mother and Father were always so proud when Joon-Woo and I came home with our gold robes.
Arriving at Hogwarts, I was sorted into Slytherin. The hat did not have to think very long, it did trifle with the idea of Ravenclaw before ultimately deciding on Slytherin. My favorite class has to be Potions. I also excel and enjoy the practical spellmaking like Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts. I find theoretical magic like Runes and Arithmancy to be interesting. I absolutely hate Divination and Astronomy.
I haven't really thought about what I wanted to do after school. As the oldest son, Joon-Woo will go into politics like father and inherit the family fortune. My family will expect me to make an advantageous marriage and focus on raising the next generation of our family to prominence. I don't suppose I have much of an exciting future so I want to have the best time at school I can and learn as much as possible before I accept the rest of my life.
At school I've brought my Eurasian Eagle-Owl, named Kohaku for his bright eyes. He's fairly distant acting and not very nice. However he is loyal and protective to a fault. I also keep my robes from Mahoutokoro in my trunk. The wand that I have used since a child is a particularly revered and powerful wand in Japan, 14" Cherry with Dragon Heartstring and Reasonably Supple. The only other personal item I've brought with me is a small make-up compact mirror. Joon-Woo has another one that we use to communicate with each other when he's away in Japan. He spelled the mirror to become hot to the touch when the other person is trying to make contact.
