Background:
Marisa was born to Adrian Eriba, a muggle working at the Royal Botanical Gardens Edinburgh, and Breanna Eriba, a witch owning a farm in northern Scotland. The first years of her childhood were spend split between going to school in Edinburgh and spending the holidays at her mother’s owl hatchery. She was an only child but had no trouble keeping herself entertained. Her early interest in plants showed only with her ownership of two windowsills worth of potted plants that moved with her from Edinburgh to Yell.
She had a few loose friendships at her muggle school and got along with some of her mother’s friends’ children as well. Marisa enjoyed doing things on her own though and she was used to summer months spend in the fields or the hatchery, surrounded by growing owls. The letter from Hogwarts was not a surprise once it arrived and most necessary equipment had already been bought. Even at eleven Marisa preferred to be well prepared.
The hat took some time with her sorting, deliberating between Hufflepuff and Slytherin – a fact Marisa does not share to this day – until settling on the latter. With this, Marisa had no issue, since her mother had been a Slytherin herself. Hogwarts on the other hand wasn’t much to her liking in the beginning. She disliked the noise and the student masses immensely. Luckily the possibility to learn helped easing this discomfort even if it never left completely. She even managed to find some friends – who even exchanged their gardening plots for support with herbology homework soon. In later years she also acquainted herself with some Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students who shared her outlooks or interest.
She excelled in Herbology and Potions, without enjoying the latter to much, did fairly well in all subjects with the slightest connection and hated transfiguration and History of Magic with a passion.
