Backstory
I am an agender/nonbinary wizard, 23 years old, and asexual.Born to a pair of muggle parents, I am the oldest of 3 children. My younger brother is also a wizard, and my younger sister is nearing the age where her magic may begin to manifest. Though, as my brother and I both discovered our abilities much later in life than most, it's uncertain how long we may be waiting on her! I discovered my abilities on my 19th birthday, when I accidentally turned my candles into a flurry of sea spray, whilst wishing for a chance to visit the coast. I was not a part of the Wizarding World during the time of Voldemort's uprising, something for which I am grateful.
I chose to take my newly rescued kitten with me as a familiar, while pursuing my magical education. My wand is made of willow, with a phoenix feather core. It is 10 3/4" in length, and flexible. The handle is carved with a pattern of willow branches and leaves, which extend halfway to the end of the wand. My patronus is a grass snake. I often cast it to entertain my growing cat, named Bear.
I was a bit of a hat-stall. The hat wavered over Gryffindor, for a short moment, before discarding the idea. It spent more time considering Ravenclaw, which could have been my sorting, had it not been for my strong Hufflepuff nature. While I value many of the traits of the other houses, and respect them, even wish that I could emulate some of them, at my core I take the most pleasure and pride from helping and being in the company of others. If I am surrounded by friends, people who like me, who I can make happy, then I am at my most content.
I most looked forward to flying class. While Quidditch holds no great appeal to me, the ability to fly is something I'd always wanted to do as a child. It can be hard for me to come back down, once I'm up in the air. I also enjoy Care of Magical Creatures, Potions, and Herbology. Charms and Transfiguration classes didn't initially hold quite as much appeal to me, as I come from a background where getting things done with your own two hands is the most satisfying. However, I'm beginning to see the appeal. Ancient Runes, History of Magic, and Astronomy, even Divination, seemed like interesting classes at first, but I tend to become bored with tasks that don't produce tangible results. I would love for there to be more magical language classes available, like learning to speak Mermish.
