Backstory
I was raised in a muggle world by my father who didn't even know about my mother's magical powers. Or... did he? She was a free spirit, not wanting to have a child and so it was no surprise she left us a short time after I was born and never - to my knowledge - contacted us again. My beloved father was an engineer. He showed me the power of wisdom, how to work hard and how wonderful technology can be. We travelled a lot, wherever a job for dad was. I loved it. I got to know other countries and cultures. And that was a kind of... escape for me.
I had troubles with magic since early childhood. Strange things happened around me. Other kids were scared of me. Teachers thought I did some bad stuff myself so despite my good grades I was never their pupil. I was alone, with no friends. I had high hopes in every new place we went to but that always ended soon after our arrival. So I kept learning. I was looking on the stars hoping that one day I'll be an astronaut.
And then this. When I was 14 my father died in an accident. I didn't have any family that I could turn to. I spent the whole awful year in an orphanage. But something weird happened. A stranger visited me, told me about unimaginable things and soon after I was taken to Hogwart not believing any of his words could be actually true. But they were. And they were fine explanation for all of the dark things that happened around me. It was magic that I couldn't control and I knew I had to learn it before it takes over my life completely.
Don't get me wrong but I didn't like coming to Hogwart. First of all, I was... well, old. Wizards tried to get to me when I was 11 but something went wrong. And so I had to learn more in a short time to get along with my age-mates. Second of all, magic was something completely different from what I appreciated. I was into science, not some abra-cadabra. That's why I like potions most. It's closest to things I thought were normal.
The Sorting Hat knew I belong to Ravenclaw with my love for knowledge, although it said something about darkness that accompanies me and its decision wasn't immediate. I'm trying to find my place. I don't know if it's here, between wizards, or there, with muggols. But I learn a lot. And I believe that one day I'll find peace of mind.
