Backstory
As a writer, activist, musician, and a new adjunct professor in both Ilvermorny and Hogwarts, I feel like I am currently living my dream. Upon first arriving to Hogwarts, I was untimely sorted into Ravenclaw due to my high levels intelligence, creativity, and individuality. Yet the decision was hatstall; while I did possess the qualities of a classic Ravenclaw, I always believed that my life’s purpose was to use my knowledge and abilities to help others in anyway I can, and to always stand up against injustice whenever it occurs. Sounds like a Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Gryffindor hybrid…doesn’t it? My Slytherin family, who are firm believers in the pureblood ideology, have always expressed strong opposition this. Yet as a Hogwarts student, I was able to find my own voice and carve out a path for myself. While studying at Hogwarts, I loved learning new things in all of my classes, taking weekend trips to Hogsmeade, reading in the beautiful Ravenclaw common room, and forming close friendships with students from multiple houses. When I graduated a few years ago, it was with N.E.W.T.s in not only Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts, but in Transfiguration, Muggle Studies and Care of Magical Creatures. Now, I am honored to work at the same school that has shaped who I am today (being a student teacher in Professor McGonagall’s class was incredible!), while also being able to further my writing and music pursuits, and continuing to advocate for early magical education funding and the equal treatment of both wizards and muggles alike. Yet wherever my life takes me, my heart always finds its home when I return to Hogwarts.
