Backstory

My name is Cassia Evergreen, I am a proud first-year student in Hogwarts. I was sorted into Ravenclaw and though I had a slight moment of uncertainty as I sat beneath the Sorting Hat, it knoew almost immediately that Ravenclaw was the right fit. I have always had an insatiable curiosity and a deep love for learning, and the Sorting Hat could sense that my mind was wired to unravel the mysteries of magic. It whispered something about "wit beyond measure" and how I would find myself at home with others who value knowledge as much as I do. I wasn't a hatstall, but it did take a few seconds longer as it toyed with the idea of Slythering due to my ambition, though it ultimately decided my hunger for understanding outweighed my cunning nature.

My astrological signs reflect my personality quite well: Scorpio Sun, Virgo Moon and Sagittarius Ascendant. These aspects highlight my deep emotional insight, analytical mind and adventurous spirit - qualities that align perfectly with my Ravenclaw traits.

So far, my favourite classes would have to be Defense Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic and Charms. There's something thrilling about studying the defensive spells in DADA - like I'm preparing for some grand battle ahead. History of Magic captivates me because I love learning about the ancient traditions and how magic has shaped our world. As for Charms, it's where I get to use my creativity to manipulate the world around me, which is pure joy.

But I can't say the same for Herbology. I appreciate the subject, but I'm not a fan of getting my hands dirty with plants that scream or bite! There's too much chaos in that greenhouse for my liking. I'd much rather be in the library, studying magical theory.

My wand is an elm wood with a phoenix feather core, 12 ¾ inches, and surprisingly swishy. Elm is known for its adaptability and resilience, which I see as a reflection of my own journey. I’ve always felt connected to the phoenix, with its power of rebirth and transformation, and I think the wand chose me because it sensed my desire to continuously grow and evolve.

I come from a pureblood family, which has its own set of expectations. My family is well-respected in the wizarding world, but we've always kept to ourselves during the darker times of history. When He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named rose to power, my parents remained neutral, choosing to stay out of the conflict rather than pick sides. We were fortunate to avoid the worst of it, but I know that not all pureblood families escaped suspicion. My blood status gives me certain privileges, but I'm determined to prove myself through my talents and abilities, not because of my lineage.

My greatest strength? I'd say it's my intellect and my ability to see connections where others might not. I love solving puzzles and figuring out how things work. But, my greatest weakness is that I can be too reserved. I tend to overthink things and hesitate to take risks unless I'm sure of the outcome. This sometimes holds me back from taking bold steps when they are needed.

In my free time, I enjoy exploring the castle's hidden corners, reading magical theory and practicing my charms. I've also taken up sketching magical creatures and collecting interesting artifacts during my explorations. These hobbies keep me engaged and allow me to explore my curiousity outside the classroom.

After finishing school, I'm torn between becoming an Unspeakable or a Curse-Breaker. The idea of working in the Department of Mysteries as an Unspeakable, delving into the most secret aspects of magic, is incredibly appealing. It's a job shrouded in secrecy, which suits my quiet, inquisitive nature. Alternatively, the life of a Curse-Breaker, travelling the world and uncovering ancient, dangerous magic, is thrilling in its own way. Both paths offer the chance to push the boundaries of magical knowledge, and I'm still figuring out which one calls to me more.

What fascinates me most about magic is its limitlessness. There's always something new to discover, some deeper truth that we haven't yet touched. Whether it's learning about ancient spells or experimenting with new charms, the potential for magic to grow and evolve excites me.

As for what I truly want - well, if I'm being honest, I crave understanding above all. I want to be someone who pushes the boundaries of magical knowledge and leaves a lasting mark on our world. It's not so much about personal glory, but about contributing something meaningful.

I have a pet - a cat named Altair. He's a sleek, black feline wit bright, inquistive eyes. Altair has a calm demeanor and is quite independent, which suits his reserved nature. He often curls up on my lap while I study or keep me company during late-night research sessions. Despite his aloof exterior, he's surprisingly perceptive, often sensing when I need a bit of quiet or a comforting presence.

As for my family, the Evergreens have always been a bit... complicated. We value tradition, but there's an undercurrent of rebellion within our ranks. My aunt, for example, broke away from the family to join the fight against the Death Eaters, much to my parents' disapproval. It caused quite the rift, and we rarely talk about her, though I secretly admire her courage. I think that's why I feel so torn sometimes - between doing what's expected and following my own path.

I suppose, like my wand, I'm still a work in progress - constantly shifting, evolving and growing.
